Lil Yachty's Daughter: Everything He's Said About Being a Dad

Lil Yachty is a protective father.

The rapper, who rose to fame in 2015 with his breakout hit “One Night," reportedly welcomed his daughter in October 2021. Despite his successful music career, which includes releasing a psychedelic rock album in 2023 and launching a record label in 2024, he has kept his private life away from the spotlight.

After the birth of his daughter, Lil Yachty chose not to reveal any information about his child or her mother. However, during an appearance on the podcast Going Mental in November 2022, Lil Yachty shared a rare comment about developing a “partnership” with his daughter’s mother.

“I’m real thankful for her. You know, she’s a really caring and understanding woman. She is not troublesome,” he said. “I tell her all the time. I’m real appreciative for her, you know, because It could have been something else. Right. So, like, it’s teamwork. It’s a partnership.”

From protecting his daughter’s privacy to his favorite thing about being a dad, here’s everything Lil Yachty has said about his daughter and fatherhood.

Lil Yachty reportedly welcomed his daughter in October 2021 in New York City, per TMZ . The rapper has yet to reveal his daughter’s name or the identity of the mother of his child, but he did share on Going Mental that he was in the room for his daughter’s birth, and “it was crazy.”

Though Lil Yachty doesn’t speak about his daughter’s mother by name, he has previously opened up about being amicable co-parents. In April 2024, the rapper made an appearance on the podcast DeepCut with VicBlends and shared that he’s thankful he and his child’s mother have a good relationship.

“I’m very grateful to the woman who I brought the child into this world with because she is such a strong individual and she is just like a really great person,” he said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better partner in that experience. I was truly blessed from above ... even though the situation didn’t go ideal like she is just a good person to watch over my child while I’m working and I’m away.”

Lil Yachty added, “I don’t have any doubts that she’s doing any weird s--- ... she’s respectful, and she’s smart and like she’s levelheaded. So I’m grateful.”

Lil Yachty doesn’t share photos of his daughter on social media and rarely speaks about her in interviews. During his appearance on DeepCut with VicBlends , the rapper said he protects his child’s privacy because he prefers to separate his career from his personal life.

“My career is my career, and then, you know, I try to keep my private life as private as possible to protect my sanity and just to like live as normal as I can,” he said. “People just don’t really know anything about me. I keep my personal life very personal, you know, like I’ve never posted my kid. I don’t speak about her publicly.”

Lil Yachty added that while he doesn’t “really care” to dispel rumors he hears about himself, he wants the public to know “my daughter is my world and I love her” and having a child has “changed my life.”

She isn’t interested in her dad’s music yet

The rapper may have millions of fans, but he can’t count his daughter as one of them just yet. In a March 2023 interview with Billboard , the rapper jokingly revealed that his daughter “doesn’t really give a f---” about his music.

“I haven’t played [ Let’s Start Here ] for her, but her mom plays her my old stuff,” he said. “The mother of my child is Dominican and Puerto Rican, so she loves Selena — she plays her a lot. [We watch] the Selena movie with Jennifer Lopez a s---ton and a lot of Disney movie s---, like Frozen , Lion King and that type of vibe.”

Lil Yachty is excited for her to grow 

During his appearance on the Going Mental podcast, Lil Yachty said that his favorite part of being a dad is watching his daughter grow.

“I’ve never watched somebody learn things. Like watching her learn. Like watching her see her shadow for the first time,” he said. “She’s really silly, but I don’t know, I think it’s just watching her experience things for the first time like candy, or something like a lemon. All these things are just so funny to me, you know like she’s a really dramatic character. She shows everything, so it’s crazy.”

Lil Yachty added, “I’m excited for her to grow because I know I’m my dad’s son right, so my dad like was, I think without trying, he just really influenced me heavily to be a creative. You know my dad was a creative, my grandfather was a creative.”

Lil Yachty Joins #GirlDad Club After Welcoming 1st Child - But Who's The Mother?

Lil Yachty might want to consider dropping the “Lil” from his name after becoming a father for the first time.

According to TMZ , the 24-year-old Atlanta rapper welcomed the birth of his first child, a daughter, in the last few weeks. Sources say he’s been spending time with his baby girl in New York City, where she was born.

The identity of the child’s mother has yet to be revealed and it’s unclear whether Lil Yachty is still in a relationship with the mother. The Quality Control rapper was most recently linked to New York-based fashion designer Selangie , although it’s believed the couple split earlier this year.

Lil Yachty has been keeping his bundle of joy a secret on social media, with no mention of her birth (or his baby mama’s pregnancy) on his Instagram or Twitter feeds. However, Yachty did share a photo of himself posted up in Manhattan last week.

The only allusion Yachty has made to becoming a father came back in August when he tweeted a video of Big Boi performing his baby mama drama-filled verse on Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson,” along with the caption, “A flawless verse.” Although it’s entirely possible Lil Boat just loves the song.

Lil Yachty has certainly been putting himself in a position to provide for his newborn daughter. Aside from his multi-platinum rap career, the 24-year-old entered the $1.5 trillion wellness industry earlier this year by investing in the plant-based nutritional supplement brand PlantFuel alongside NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens.

Previously, Yachty plunged $1 million into the popular Jewish dating app Lox Club through his and Bhad Bhabie’s Scoop Investments venture capital fund.

Congrats: Lil Yachty Is Officially A Dad After Welcoming His First Child

Congrats are in order for Lil Yachty .

The 24-year old rapper recently welcomed his first child into the world earlier this month in New York City. Yachty is known for keeping mum about his personal life -- so much so that fans are still speculating on who the mother of his child could be. The Atlanta-bred star is reportedly in Manhattan spending time with his new born baby girl, however, he has yet to officially speak out on his new bundle of joy.

Fortunately, Yachty's baby girl won't have much to want for, considering that her dad has been making major money moves. The multi-million dollar rapper recently invested in the plant-based nutritional supplement brand PlantFuel alongside NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens , and put $1 million into a new, Jewish dating app called LoxClub. Yachty said of his PlantFuel move:

“I’m super excited about my new venture with PlantFuel. It’s brands like PlantFuel that inspire and allow me to stay actively involved creatively beyond just investing.”

The news of the rapper's emergence into fatherhood comes just days after he joined Tame Impala on their remix record to "Breathe Deeper." Yachty said of the remix record:

“It was so amazing to work with Kevin [Parker] as I’ve been a big fan since high school so it was a pleasant surprise and honor to be a part of such an incredible song."

The "Yacht Club" rapper hasn't let up when it comes to making new music. Along with "Breathe Deeper", Yachty recently dropped his Birthday Mix Vol. 6 mixtape featuring appearances from Lil Tecca and SoFaygo, and even contributed a song to Pokémon 25: The Album entitled "Believing".

Lil Yachty is a girl dad, TMZ reports. According to the outlet, the 24-year-old welcomed his first child, a baby girl, earlier this month in New York City. Yachty has reportedly been staying in the city for the past few weeks to care for his newborn daughter. So far, the rapper hasn’t disclosed who the child’s mother is and hasn’t posted publicly about his daughter online.

Although Yachty hasn’t confirmed the news, fans jumped to congratulate the Atlanta native on Wednesday (Oct. 20).

“Lil Yachty is gonna be a good dad,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“Lil Yachty had a kid before [Lil] Uzi [Vert] OMG Lil Yachty is a dad now??!!! I’m so happy for him holy shit,” another wrote.

While Yachty is reportedly on daddy duty now, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made time to share new music with his fans. The Lil Boat 3 crafter recently appeared on Pokémon 25: The Album with his single, “Believing.”

Back in August, Yachty also celebrated his birthday with his new mixtape, Birthday Mix 6, which saw appearances from Lil Tecca and SoFaygo. Since then, he’s shared videos for “Lord of the Beans,” “TUNDE,” “Rocc Climbing” and dropped his own remix of Tame Impala’s song, “Breathe Deeper.”

Besides new music, Yachty has also recently made headlines for his investments. Over the summer, he and Bhad Bhabie teamed up to invest $1 million in the Jewish dating app , The Lox Club. In May, Yachty also released his own line of gender-inclusive nail polish .

“It’s essentially like… unisex, but I want it to be more focused on for men to use it and to be more comfortable in their own skin ,” he told TMZ prior to the nail polish’s launch. “Because bro… come on. What are barriers? We still have barriers?”

Congratulations are in order for rap star Lil Yachty as he’s become a father for the first time. The news was confirmed by TMZ , who shared that the Atlanta native welcomed his first child, a daughter, in the last few weeks. They also stated that he’s been spending time with his newborn daughter in New York City, where she was born.

There are still no reports as to who the child’s mother is as yet, and it seems he’s trying to keep her out of the spotlight. However, recent reports suggest that he was last known to be dating New York-based fashion designer Selangie. They were rumored to have broken up sometime earlier this year, though.

He’s also kept his baby’s identity secret and hasn’t used any of his social media accounts to show off his baby girl. He did, however, share a photo of himself in Manhattan, which confirms that he is in New York at this time.

It seems that rapper Lil Yachty has officially joined fatherhood! According to reports, Lil Yachty , born Miles McCollum, welcomed a daughter into the world a couple of weeks ago in NYC. The 24-year-old rapper is reportedly still in the city as he spends time with his newborn. As of now, it’s unclear who the baby’s mother is. This is Lil Yachty’s first child.

As previously reported , Lil Yachty made headlines this past summer for teaming up with fellow rapper Bhad Bhabie , 18, in a business endeavor. According to reports, the pair invested $1 million into Lox Club, which is a dating app that markets itself as being “culturally Jewish.”

Their large investment was made in partnership with Adam Kugler’s Scoop Investments, which is also responsible for helping Lil Yachty secure his Reese’s Puffs deal. In addition to that, Adam Kugler once managed Bhad Bhabie and is her business partner on a variety of other deals.

Lil Yachty definitely has a lot on his plate now to keep him busy. He launched an all-gender exclusive nail polish brand, Crete, this year as well.

Lil Yachty reportedly welcomed his first child last year in October. It has been rumored that his little bundle of joy’s mom is model and entrepreneur Selangie. Timing would make sense as Selangie’s daughter Varsity just celebrated her first birthday.

Not mentioning his baby mama by name in the interview, Lil Yachty did take a moment to give her a shout out.

News recently broke that rapper Lil Yachty is now a father. Sources suggest he's been spending some quality time with his new daughter, who was born a few weeks ago. Even as many of his fans celebrate the news that he's now a father , others were curious who his baby's mama is, and whether Lil Yachty is currently dating anyone.

Who is Lil Yachty dating?

Lil Yachty has been a rapper of note since his singles "One Night" and "Minnesota" were first released in 2015. In the years since, he's put out a number of albums and has faced immense speculation over who he's dating. Unlike many rappers, Lil Yachty is not always public about his relationships, which can make it difficult to parse the rumors from the reality of who he's in a relationship with.

Many have linked the rapper to Instagram model Megan Denise, and suggest that the two first began dating in 2017 but have not yet gotten married. Reports also suggest that, before he dated Megan, Lil Yachty was dating another Instagram model from India. What's more, he has also been linked to model India Love, who appeared alongside him in the music video for "Forever Young." Although many sources have linked them romantically, they have insisted that they are just friends.

Who is Lil Yachty's baby mama?

So far, Lil Yachty hasn't said anything about who the mother of his child is. In part because his relationship history is so unclear, it's impossible to say for certain without he or the mother confirming it. For now, it seems like he wants to keep his family affairs out of the public eye, although that may ultimately prove to be impossible because of the fame he's already acquired.

For now, though, Lil Yachty has managed to successfully hide the identity of his baby's mother from the public. He's likely focused on being a new dad at the moment, and it's unclear whether the baby's mother is also around, or whether she is now out of the picture. Lil Yachty has yet to post about his new daughter on social media, so it seems that he's trying to keep the news at least somewhat under wraps.

Although Lil Yachty hasn't shared all the details of his personal life with the public, he has expressed his political leanings in the past. In 2016, he said that he supported Bernie Sanders in the presidential primary during an interview with CNN. That doesn't necessarily mean that the rapper is a hugely political person, but his politics are clearly left leaning.

For the most part, Lil Yacthy's public persona is defined by his music, and that's probably the way he likes it. He did have one brief and relatively minor run-in with the law recently, but his career and his new fatherhood seem to be what he's prioritizing right now. Just because we don't know who his baby mama is doesn't mean Lil Yachty won't be a great dad.

This approach has also led to rumors about Yachty being gay, but the musician maintained that he simply didn't care much for sex. His intentions are worth appreciating, and the women he's been linked to have spoken positively about him. Still, none have claimed to be his girlfriend.

Lil Yachty's Girlfriends: He Was Linked to Rubi Rose and Megan Denise

During an appearance on Vlad TV in 2019, Rubi Rose (not the actress ) addressed rumors about her love life . She admitted to dating Travis Scott and 21 Savage when she was younger, but when asked about Yachty, she said they were friends and had previously worked together.

Yachty was also rumored to have dated India Love between 2016 and 2017 after collaborating on the "Forever Love" music video, but Yachty later said he had an "expired" crush on her. Fans then assumed he was romantically involved with Megan Denise .

Their relationship reportedly lasted between 2017 and 2018. Denise addressed the allegations later in 2017, saying she and Yachty started talking on social media. However, their relationship was only a close friendship. She said he was "one of the nicest people" she'd ever met.

During a chat on Hot 97 in 2017, Yachty revealed he had a girlfriend . The musician confessed his relationship status, joking that his lover would "beat" him up if he hid her. He didn't reveal her identity but kept blushing throughout the brief minutes he spoke of her.

Yachty rarely mentioned his girlfriend afterward, but in 2021, he was linked to Selangie Arlene. That year was eventful, as he and fellow hip-hop artist Bhad Bhabie were investing in the Jewish dating app Lox Club among several other deals. Moreover, Yachty became a first-time father .

Yachty welcomed his daughter in late 2021, sometime around October. He revealed that her mother was Dominican and Puerto Rican, and although she frequently played Selena's music for their daughter, she also played Yachty's older music.

Yachty shared that he spent quality time with the two ladies, watching films like "Selena," which stars Jennifer Lopez, "Frozen," and "Lion King." It is believed that Arlene is the mother of Yachty's daughter .

In October 2022, she posted photos depicting a one-year birthday celebration for a baby girl named Varsity. The mom of one didn't show the young one's face, and Yachty wasn't in the pictures, but this may be the rapper's family.

Lil yachty explodes on ig live: accuses karrahbooo of abuse & $900k debt to concrete boys.

Yachty also claimed that he wrote all of Karrahboo's lyrics, including her breakout appearance on Rap Radar.

In a fiery and unplanned Instagram Live, Lil Yachty publicly criticized his "A Safe Place" podcast cohost, Mitch, and former Concrete Boys member, Karrahboo.

Yachty began by addressing the rumors surrounding Karrahboo's departure from his rap collective, Concrete Boys. He accused her of "verbally abusing" others, responding to her exit by saying, "Don’t get on here and make a scene ‘bout n****s kicked you out."

Yachty went on to claim that he wrote all of Karrahboo's lyrics, including her breakout appearance on Rap Radar, for which he leaked a reference track. He also stated that he provided her with financial support, jewelry, and styled her entire look.

"I wrote every fucking verse you've done," Yachty alleged. "I dressed you. I dressed all five of y'all n***as bro. I dressed five n***as every time we stepped out the house. I put an outfit on everybody. I put eight carats of earrings on everybody ear. I put three chains on all y'all neck."

He added, "We bought a Cartier watch. I gave you that chrome Rolex, bro. You was waiting tables... What are we talking about n***a? I changed your mother fucking life and you are hear lying, talking about some: 'we bully you'. That shit got me fucked up, bro. You got me fucked up, bro. You disrespectful bro. You talk to people crazy. You tell people that they are nothing. You tell people you're going to spit on them. You tell people they poor and you talk to my fucking label crazy. You claim I was stealing money..."

Yachty also made the serious accusation that Karrahboo owes him $900,000, stating, "I got every receipt. $900,000 Concrete in the hole."

He added that he had even adjusted the production of her verse to make her stand out, saying, "I slowed the beat down, I put 808s specifically on your verse so when it got to your part and the beat dropped, everyone would be like, ‘this girl is the craziest one.’”

Yachty then turned his attention to Mitch, revealing that their podcast "A Safe Place" was initiated at Mitch’s urging. This comes after clips from a podcast episode featuring Key Glock went viral, where Yachty scolded Mitch in front of an unimpressed Glock.

During the episode, Mitch responded to Yachty’s criticism of his past actions by saying, "Even if I was doing shit back then, I’m older now," Yachty then questioned, "[If] I was never in your life, what would you have been doing?”

Lil Yachty fired back at his co-host Mitch’s ex-girlfriend after she threatened to expose him following his explosive Instagram rant. 

On Thursday night (August 22), after unleashing on former Concrete Boys artist Karrahbooo, Yachty directed his anger towards his A Safe Place podcast co-host, Mitch, before quitting the podcast and ending their friendship. 

Earlier in the day, a clip went viral of the rapper appearing to disrespect Mitch for lacking purpose before meeting Yachty.

After facing backlash, Lil Yachty asked his friend to clear up the clip, but Mitch refused. He also insisted Mitch had benefited from him to the tune of around $400,000. 

“I say ‘Mitch how the f### you didn’t go on the internet and tell these folks we playin, bro?’” he recalled. “F### you and the podcast. I don’t give a f### about the podcast.”

However, Mitch’s ex-girlfriend, who also happens to be his cousin, soon chimed in. She blasted Yachty in a Twitter Spaces, warning she would reveal his secrets.  

The woman claimed Mitch sacrificed his own career to support Yachty and said her relationship with him suffered because he was always in meetings with the rapper. She also accused Lil Yachty of holding Mitch back, using him and blocking other opportunities.  

Furthermore, she claimed the podcast would be “nothing” without Mitch, adding that nobody tunes in for the rapper. Then she made a bold claim, insisting she was responsible for their success. 

“Let’s really get into the tea. People really watch that s### cuz of me,” she said, referring to the podcast going viral after Yachty called out Mitch for having a sexual relationship with his cousin. “You brought that s### up because you wanted to try to f###### clown and humiliate that n####,” she added. “And yeah that s### is about me.”

Yachty fired back, claiming Mitch would lie to her “just to get away from you,” and the endless meetings didn’t exist.  

“Stop playing with me ho,” he yelled, becoming irate. “You was really a b#### that he just used to use to sleep at your f##### house ho.” 

He added, “If you got some dirt bring it to the muthafuckin light ho. So we can really tell everything how it is.”

After all the drama, Mitch finally provided the clarification Yachty had requested and said their conversation was “taken out of context.” 

While Lil Yachty said the podcast was over, Mitch apparently missed the memo. “The next podcast will be epic,” he wrote. “ion even think we need a guest this time lol.. see ya around (insert think piece below).”

Yachty began by addressing the rumors surrounding Karrahboo’s exit from the rap collective Concrete Boys. Daughter of Mike Lynch recovered from yacht as family ‘devastated’ after five-day search

Tributes have been paid to the 18-year-old daughter of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch after her body was recovered from the sunken yacht Bayesian .

Hannah Lynch was brought ashore on Friday following a five-day search operation off the coast of Sicily , which had already retrieved the bodies of five others, including her father.

Unconfirmed reports in the Italian media have now said that prosecutors are set to announce a manslaughter investigation into the incident, which killed seven in total and saw 15 others rescued from a lifeboat.

Tributes have poured in for the “charming and ferociously intelligent” teenager, who had been due to start studying English at Oxford University in September.

She died alongside her father when his boat capsized during stormy weather at around 4am on Monday morning, with the wreckage sitting at a depth of 50m below the surface of the sea.

The trip had been a celebration of Mr Lynch’s acquittal in a decade-long fraud case in the US, and he had invited close friends, colleagues and his legal team onboard to thank them for their support.

Also killed in the incident was Morgan Stanley International chair Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judy Bloomer, Clifford Chance lawyer Chris Morvillo, his wife Neda Morvillo, and the yacht’s chef, Recaldo Thomas.

In a statement, the family of Mr Lynch and Hannah said: “The Lynch family is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends.

“Their thoughts are with everyone affected by the tragedy. They would like to sincerely thank the Italian coastguard, emergency services and all those who helped in the rescue.

“Their one request now is that their privacy be respected at this time of unspeakable grief.”

Hannah’s sister, Esme, said: “Hannah often burst into my bedroom and lay down with me. Sometimes beaming with a smile, sometimes cheeky, sometimes for advice. No matter what, she brought boundless love to me.

“She was endlessly caring, passionately mad, unintentionally hilarious and the most amazing, supportive and joyful sister and best friend to me. And on top of all this, she had even more love to give endlessly to all her friends and passion to give to her incredible studies and goals. She is my little angel, my star.”

Vincenzo Zagarola, of the Italian Coast Guard, said the search for Hannah was not “easy or quick”, comparing the sunken yacht to an “18-storey building full of water”.

Specialist divers faced complex conditions while searching for the six missing people, with debris and furniture cluttering the narrow spaces leading to the cabin bedrooms.

They only had a 10-minute window per dive to carry out their search, with a helicopter, remotely controlled underwater vehicles and naval units also deployed to assist.

After the discovery of Hannah’s body on Friday morning, coastguard members, police officers and search and rescue teams lined up along Porticello Harbour, before an ambulance transported her to the mortuary in Palermo.

Among those paying tribute was her former head of English at Latymer Upper School, who described her as achieving success with “extraordinary levels of grace and fortitude”.

Jon Mitropoulos-Monk said: “I’ve never taught someone who combined sky-high intellectual ability with warmth and enthusiasm in the way Hannah did. She lit up the classroom with her energy, passion for learning and sheer intelligence (though never with a hint of arrogance).”

Tributes from across all sectors have been paid to Mr Lynch, who founded the software giant Autonomy in 1996 and sat on the board of a number of prestigious institutions.

His close friend and colleague Andrew Kanter said: “Mike was the most brilliant mind and caring person I have ever known. Over nearly a quarter century I had the privilege of working beside someone unrivalled in their understanding of technology and business.

“There is simply no other UK technology entrepreneur of our generation who has had such an impact on so many people.”

In a statement confirming their parents’ deaths, the Bloomer family described the couple as “incredible people and an inspiration to many”.

An investigation is now due to look at the circumstances in which the boat sank, with the yacht’s captain, James Cutfield, reportedly questioned for two hours by authorities.

Mr Zagarola has said a decision on whether to raise the sunken yacht from the seabed is “not on the agenda” but will be in the future.

The CEO of The Italian Sea Group, which owns the firm that built the Bayesian , said that the yacht was “unsinkable” and that the vessels are “the safest in the most absolute sense”.

Prosecutors in the nearby town of Termini Imerese are scheduled to hold a press conference on Saturday morning.

UK tycoon's daughter is seventh, final victim of Sicily yacht sinking

Divers searching a sunken superyacht off Sicily recovered the body of the teenage daughter of UK tech tycoon Mike Lynch Friday, the seventh and final victim of a tragedy in which the businessman also perished.

Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah had been among six passengers reported missing after the "Bayesian" went down off the north coast of the Italian island in a storm early on Monday morning.

After Hannah's body was brought ashore on Friday, her family issued a statement describing their "unspeakable grief".

"The Lynch family is devastated, in shock and is being comforted and supported by family and friends," it said.

Search teams had recovered the bodies of four of Lynch's friends on Wednesday, and that of the entrepreneur himself on Thursday.

The body of a man believed to be the yacht's chef had been found a few hours after the sailing ship sank.

Lynch, 59, had invited friends and family onto the sailing boat to celebrate his recent acquittal in a massive US fraud case.

But the 56-metre (185-foot) British-flagged yacht was struck by a waterspout -- akin to a mini-tornado -- before dawn on Monday as it was anchored off Porticello, near Palermo.

It sank at around 04:30 am local time, according to management company Camper and Nicolsons, and now lies on the sea bed some 50 metres down.

- 'Heartbroken' -

Hannah had just finished her end-of-school exams and had a place to study English literature at Oxford University.

Friends described her as warm, loving and "charming and ferociously intelligent", according to one of the tributes issued by the family.

Lynch, once dubbed the British "Bill Gates", was "the most brilliant mind and (most) caring person I have ever known", said another.

The businessman had been acquitted on all charges in a San Francisco court in June after he was accused of an $11 billion fraud linked to the sale of his software firm Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard.

US lawyer Chris Morvillo, a partner at top law firm Clifford Chance who worked on the trial, also died in the sinking, along with his wife Neda.

Morvillo's firm Clifford Chance paid tribute to the couple, saying all were "heartbroken at the tragic passing... and still coming to terms with this terrible loss".

Italy's fire service said 27 divers had gone down to the submerged yacht each day, performing 123 dives overall in a search that also saw helicopters scour the area.

The bodies of Jonathan Bloomer, the chair of Morgan Stanley International, and his wife Judy, were also found.

The Bloomer family said they were suffering "unimaginable grief" for a couple who had been together for five decades.

"Our only comfort is that they are still together now," the family said.

- 'Uncovering the truth' -

Many questions remain about why the yacht sank, and so quickly, when other boats nearby were unaffected.

Italian prosecutors have opened a probe and will hold a press conference on Saturday.

On Thursday the head of the company which built the boat said the tragedy could have been avoided.

"Everything that was done reveals a very long summation of errors," said Giovanni Costantino, head of the Italian Sea Group, which includes the Perini Navi company that built Bayesian in 2008.

But Nautilus International, a maritime trade union, called for a "thorough, unbiased investigation".

General secretary Mark Dickinson warned questioning the crew's conduct "without the full facts" would be "not only unfair but also harmful to the process of uncovering the truth".

The Bayesian, owned by Lynch's family, boasted a 75-metre mast, the tallest aluminium sailing mast in the world, according to the Charter World website.

Raising the wreck would likely cost some 15 million euros and take "six to eight weeks", according to the salvage engineer who led the operation to recover the Costa Concordia cruise ship, which sank off Italy in 2012.

To recover the yacht, the mast could be removed on the seabed but the boat would be lifted up whole using a giant crane and a team of 40 specialist divers, South African engineer Nick Sloane told the Repubblica daily.
