It’s not easy to keep a 285-foot superyacht under wraps for a whole year, but Feadship has managed to do exactly that. The Dutch yard has kept showstopper Lonian hidden since her launch in 2019, but now it’s finally ready to show her off.
The vessel was kept secret at the request of the owners, who wanted to enjoy a full year of private cruising without any publicity. That feat was relatively easy to achieve since the superyacht is packed with everything you could ever want or need, and has been specifically designed for life at sea.
In fact, Lonian spends little time moored in marinas and instead cruises the world with a “flotilla” of toys and tenders, plus a 217-foot support vessel that carries additional equipment and a crew of 22.

With exteriors penned by Sinot , Lonian sports a deep blue hull and dramatic bow, and is surprisingly slimline given her size. She features extensive glass and stainless steel for a decidedly modern feel.
“She has the presence and stance of a beefy motoryacht while retaining an elegant and slender air,” the yard said.
But let’s talk about life onboard. Her knockout feature is an utterly unique glass swimming pool located aft. It has a translucent bottom that doubles as the ceiling of the beach club below and a built-in movie screen integrated into the edge of the pool, because why not?

Not to be outdone, her automated swim platform on the transom hatch opens and closes like the roof of a convertible car. The teak hatch opens first, and the aft door descends before the hatch closes again, leaving no visible sign of a threshold or door.
Elsewhere, the expansive foredeck on the owner’s deck has a jacuzzi with bespoke cooling and heating functionality. This was specifically requested by the exacting owners, who like relaxing in the chilled plunge pool after a sweat sesh at the bridge deck gym.
Lonian features 22 different openings—platforms, hatches and doors—which creates a seamless outdoor-indoor flow and allows guests to easily access the surrounding waters. If further exploration is required, there’s also an Airbus ACH145 helicopter on board.
The interiors, penned by Sinot and Richard Hallberg Interior Design , remain private, but Feadship did reveal there is a glass elevator to serve all five decks and an epic lounge with full-beam panoramic views. The vessel can sleep a total of 14 guests across seven cabins, including an owner’s stateroom, four generous guest staterooms and two VIP suites. There are also 15 crew cabins and one captain’s cabin.

About Lonian
Lonian is a striking 87-metre beauty with exterior styling by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, as is the interior, the latter in cooperation with Richard Hallberg Interior Design. The accommodations for the owners and their twelve guests are of the very highest standards, as will the service be by 27 crew. The owners chose Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design for Lonian ’s exterior styling because they are a great fan of the Dutch studio’s masculine style. The result is a Feadship with the presence and stance of a beefy motoryacht which simultaneously retains an elegant and slender air. Lonian ’s Majestic Blue hull represented a considerable challenge even for Feadship’s legendary paint team, which was tasked with achieving this regal look in the kind of dark hue that is very unforgiving of any faults. They passed the test…
Another highly visible aspect of Lonian is liberal use of stainless steel: from the signature V-cut feature on port and starboard side to the dramatic bow, this adds to the glamour of the design as well as its coherence. The same goes for the wealth of glass used in the wide body section of a design that is actually surprisingly slimline considering the full-beam main deck with no sidewalks. Such a layout has major implications for crew logistics, of course, superbly solved here by making optimal use of the ample space available on the lower deck to enhance service traffic. The muscular look of the bow is another example of form meeting function, with the extra volume adding to the yacht’s interior real estate.

After cruising for a year free from publicity, the Owner of 87m/285ft motor yacht LONIAN has released close-up images of her exteriors and the top quality amenities integrated into her surroundings.

M/Y LONIAN was designed for Owners who like to spend a lot of time away from marinas, dropping anchor in secluded bays for hours exploring the location on the water toys. The exterior styling is the work of Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design , who also worked on the interiors in collaboration with Richard Hallberg Interior Design.

The midnight blue hull paint and gloss finish create an imposing character further accentuated by strong horizontal lines, liberal use of stainless steel accents, a contrasting white superstructure and a raked bow. Although on first glance she may seem traditional in appearance, subtle contemporary touches such as large windows around the perimeter of each deck make a world of difference to how life onboard is experienced.

There are 22 different hatches, openings and terraces on board which grant guests close access to the surrounding environment, whether dining indoors, unwinding in the beach club or waking up to breakfast alfresco in the Owner’s cabin.
The highlight of the main deck aft is its central swimming pool, placed 50cm above the deck height and designed with a glass bottom to illuminate the beach club below. The swimming pool has a wide cinema screen integrated into the end of the pool so that guests can watch a film with surround-sound audio while resting on the surrounding cabanas or while taking a dip.

Access to the beach club is simple with two large staircases leading down to a transom hatch which opens and closes much like a convertible car and transforms into a flush swim platform, leaving no visible signs. The beach club also has hatches to port and starboard, and to avoid flooding these alfresco terraces and the area within, they have been built a certain height above the waterline.
The Owners’ deck comes with a Jacuzzi that has a custom heating and cooling function, allowing its occupants to choose from a range between 10 and 38 degrees – perfect for cooling off on a hot day or as a plunge pool after a workout session in the bridge deck gymnasium.

In addition to boarding by tender, guests can also fly in by landing on the sundeck aft, which is fully equipped for an AW169 helicopter.
The accommodation sleeps up to 14 guests over seven en-suite cabins consisting of a Master suite, two VIP staterooms and four other guest cabins, while a crew of 31 will ensure that guests are well taken care of wherever they travel.
More information about the interiors has yet to be revealed, but an earthy contemporary palette has been used to create tranquil living spaces and for ease of access a glass lift/elevator connects all five decks.

Luxury yacht LONIAN is capable of a top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles that allows her to cross the Atlantic with fuel to spare using a full hybrid diesel-electric engine.
Following M/Y LONIAN on her adventures is a 66m/216ft support vessel that can carry an additional 20 crew plus a variety of water toys and vehicles such as a personal submarine.

First images of Feadship’s 87m M/Y 'Lonian' released
Images of the superyacht have previously been kept out of the media since her launch in july 2018….
Nothing has been seen of 87m M/Y Lonian since a six-minute time-lapse film of her build premiered at her launch, in July 2018, was shared on Feadship’s YouTube channel. The low profile of the yacht since has been attributed to the owner’s request for a year of private cruising after the launch, with no further publicity. But details, and accompanying images have now been released.
The owners reportedly chose Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design for Lonian’ s exterior styling because they like the Dutch studio’s masculine style. The ‘Majestic Blue’ hull proved to be a challenge that was overcome by Feadship’s paint team, as the colour is often unforgiving of any faults. Another design feature of Lonian is the quantity of stainless steel used: which is used on the V-cut feature on the port and starboard side to the boat’s bow to give the boat a dramatic effect.
There is also a wealth of glass used in the wide body section of a design that, according to Feadship, ‘is surprisingly slimline considering the full-beam main deck with no sidewalks’. One of the owner’s requests was for a swimming pool with a translucent bottom that would double up as part of the ceiling of the beach club below. A cinema screen is also integrated at the end of the pool.
The owner’s deck features a giant skylight and large flush foredeck. Guests can benefit from the exclusivity of the balconies with exterior sliding doors on the two VIP staterooms and those arriving by tender can make use of a smart boat boom solution made possible by the absence of gangways. These extended telescopic booms allow tenders to attach to the platform on the starboard side and comfortably access the guest entrance. Featuring a fully-equipped deck for an AW169 helicopter, Lonian is also accessible by air. The helideck also has a substantial crane capable of lifting 3.5 tonnes if any tender needs a home for the night.
To optimise the enjoyment of available space on board, the 87m vessel travels with a 66m support vessel to transport even more equipment, along with up to 20 crew. In addition to this, the yacht has 22 different openings to create an open feel on board.
Another feature that isn’t visible in the images is the high-end audio installation. The rest of Lonian’ s interior, created by Sinot in collaboration with Richard Hallberg Interior Design, will remain private. However, it has been revealed that it includes a glass elevator serving all five decks and a main deck lounge absent of any pillars that could interrupt the panoramic views.
According to data supplied by The Superyacht Agency, since the launch of Lonian in 2018, Feadship has seen its average delivered LOA creep up. Delivering five boats with an average LOA of 73.7m last year, in 2019 it has delivered four with an average of 75.3m. Although this may only be a slight increase, looking at the shipyard’s order book for the next two years this increase is set to continue. If all orders are successfully delivered within this timeframe, Feadship’s delivery figure is set to reach the lofty average LOA of 84.9m in 2021.

Lonian Yacht: An Insider’s Guide
The Lonian Yacht, with an “L”, is a one-of-a-kind luxury yacht built by world-renowned Dutch shipyard Feadship in 2018 with naval architecture by De Voogt Naval Architects. The Lonian features exterior design handled by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design, who handled all the interior design alongside Richard Hallberg Interior Design, and they succeeded in making something very unique.
Arguably the most unique thing you’ll notice about the Lonian if you ever see it docked anywhere is that it’s not alone. It has a support vessel called the Hodor, which measures a staggering 217 feet and features a crew of 22. That’s just the support ship.
As for Lonian itself, it features a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. The exterior is a deep navy blue, and the entire yacht features liberal use of stainless steel and glass in its design elements. The yacht was also designed with unusual passages and openings that go from the inside to the outside and a dramatic bow. There are 22 openings across the ship to give the vessel a feeling of openness that’s not present on most yachts.
Who is the Lonian Yacht Owner?
Lonian was commissioned by American businessman Lorenzo Fertitta who you might recognize as the former CEO of the UFC. He’s also the former CEO of Station Casinos and a man that likes to have fun if both his work life and his yacht preferences are any indication.
How Big is the Lonian Yacht?
The Lonian is a decent-sized superyacht at a solid 285’4″ in length. Considering her support vessel is also over 200 feet, it’s safe to say a lot of space is being used for fun on board, but we’ll get to some of those details shortly. The Lonian also boasts a volume of 2,691 GT and a beam of just over 45 feet.
How Much Did the Lonian Yacht Cost?
The Lonian came with a $160 million price tag in 2018. It’s believed that the yearly operating costs for the Lonian are between $15 million and $20 million. However, because the Lonian also has the Hodor as a support vessel, that cost will likely be even higher since they’re paying double fuel, extra crew, extra taxes, fees, etc.
Is the Lonian Available for Yacht Charter?
The Lonian has not been made available for charter. The owner has been very strict about what information he shares and doesn’t share regarding the yacht, including interior details. At the same time, some features have been very public, including a video of the entire construction process. However, the owner requested that the media allow him a year of privacy without people trying to take photos and ask questions.
The result is that we do know a lot about the vessel now, but there are other factors, as we’ll see, that remain secret. Since no one has ever been able to charter the yacht, the whole experience is only known to the owner and his guests.
How Fast is the Lonian and What Engines Does It Use?
The Lonian is powered by Feadship’s first hybrid diesel and electric propulsion thanks to a pair of MTU 16V4000M73 2560kW engines. This gives the Lonian a cruising speed of 12 knots and a top speed of 18 knots. The yacht carries 160,000 liters of fuel on board and has a range of about 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots.
What’s the Interior of the Lonian Like?
Several exciting design elements are on board the Lonian, but the swimming pool is one of the most visible and incredible. The pool is positioned 50 cm above deck height and surrounded by a relaxation area and deck with lounge space. But the bottom of the pool is entirely translucent and serves as the ceiling of the beach club on the deck below. The vessel’s cinema is also integrated, as the screen is part of the end of the pool.
A fully integrated sound system is also part of the cinema and the rest of the yacht’s design. The complex system was a custom job, and designers built a lifesize mockup of the pool section to ensure it would work properly and the pool could work without flooding the vessel.
Guests can arrive via tender when the yacht is at sea and board, thanks to a boom that serves as a gangway to the guest quarters. The telescoping boom attaches from the starboard side to a tender, and guests can hop on and off as they please. Of course, as you can see in the photos, there’s also a helipad on the skydeck for guests who fly in while the boat is at sea.
The boom gangway leads to a pair of VIP staterooms that both have balconies with exterior sliding doors. Elsewhere in the yacht, there are eight more staterooms plus the owner’s deck.
The owner’s deck has a private jacuzzi with a custom heating and cooling system that can turn up the heat to 38 degrees Celsius or even cool it down to a brisk 10 degrees for those extra hot days. A flush foredeck and a skylight allow those inside to enjoy the sun without leaving the comfort of their private suite.
There is room for 12 guests in 4 sizeable double-sized staterooms and the two VIP suites. There are also 15 crew cabins and one captain’s cabin on board to handle 27 crew in total.
The Lonian features the first-ever design from Feadship as well. A transom hatch features a flush swim platform that opens and closes like a convertible car. When the teak hatch opens, the door can drop down to close, and the hatch may close again.
Tenders can be loaded and unloaded with a crane on the helideck capable of lifting nearly 4 tons.
Features and Amenities
We’ve already covered several of the vessel’s features, but let’s break down what’s available. The support ship Hodor is where the Lonian stores most of its toys, so we can also include what we know here.

- Panoramic full-beam views are available from the full-beam main deck lounge
- A glass elevator traverses all five decks for guests to move about the vessel

The Bottom Line
The motor yacht Lonian is a unique yacht owned by the former owner of the UFC, Lorenzo Fertitta. It was built by Feadship in 2018 and features a Sinot-exclusive yacht design and exterior styling. The vessel measures nearly 286 feet in length. The yacht costs $160 million and likely has a higher upkeep cost than most yachts since it is always accompanied by a massive support vessel called the Hodor. The Hodor acts as the tender garage and toy box for the Lonian and features a more excellent array of toys than any other yacht possibly could because of the space it provides. The Hodor alone requires a crew of 22 to maintain it.
While many details are known about the Lonian, the owner has never allowed anyone on board to take interior photos, and Feadship has only provided scant interior design details. As a result, while we do know a lot about yachts, we have no idea what it looks like inside.

Even though there are no interior photos and those will be kept private for the time being, we can share much closer images onboard some of the deck spaces and details perhaps not seen before. Lonian can accept her owner or guests via dock, sea or air and by the aerial route she has a helipad to help conduct helicopter operations up to an AW169 category. A tender can also be stored up there via a 3.5-tonne capacity crane giving the crew more flexibility should they need it.
As the owner arrives via helicopter they will have to take the stairs down a couple decks to their master suite on the forward end of the upper deck. Once there the owner can emerge outside of the suite through forward sliding glass doors and enjoy a wonderful terrace area filled with plush furnishings fit for total relaxation. What's more is that there is a flush-built in glass-backed jacuzzi for the owner to use after working it up in the gym or watersports. It can be chilled or heated through a range of temperatures as low as 10 degrees and up to 38 degrees.
There are 22 openings interior and exterior to create an "unrivaled open feel on board," Feadship says. Some of them are fold-out terraces for example, shell doors on either side of the beach club lower to sea-level and the aft of the beach club also opens up to the large swim platform. The superstructure also has a few openings. The master suite also has side-sliding doors that open to side balconies. The forward cabins in the hull also have a fold-down terrace that can provide balcony views. To help clean the glass and stainless on some of those 22 openings are 30-plus crew members.
One of the well-thought out deck areas is perhaps the aft main deck where one of Lonian's stand out features was built. A large swimming pool flanked by four custom cabanas were built-in here. The cabanas are more fancy than you think. From far they look standard but a closer look reveals the cabanas have self-contained white screens that can be pulled down to create privacy or shade from the sun. Normally, the crew would have to add those on separately and take them off when not in use to keep them clean and not shredded by the wind.
The pool itself is large enough to swim comfortably in and it has two large translucent panels in the floor which serves to filter and soften the daylight that passes through and lights the beach club below. The pool surface is 50 cm above deck height, creating a great place for guests to sit and paddle their feet after lounging on the cabanas.
Onboard you will find accommodation for up to fourteen in seven cabins. Four doubles, two VIPs and the owner's suite is the break down. Fifteen cabins plus a captain cabin are for the crew. Lonian does have support in the form of a custom-built 66-meter catamaran-hulled vessel called "Hodor". Hodor herself carries the extra tenders and toys for Lonian and is maned by another 22 crew. Launched in July 2018 by Feadship Yachts in Aalsmeer, Netherlands, Lonian is one of the largest yachts built by the Dutch company at 87m in length.
With a streamlined exterior and powerful bow designed by Sinot Yacht Design, Lonian boasts a distinctive royal blue steel hull, with an aluminium superstructure and a beam of 13.80m. This custom displacement yacht also features 'at anchor stabilisers' which work at zero speed, increasing onboard comfort at anchor and on rough waters. Lonian looks to be an impressive new and different build for the Dutch company.
Very few details are currently available regarding Lonian, however, she is believed to be well-equipped across 4 teak decks with luxurious amenities, including a swimming pool aft, tender garage, helipad and a jacuzzi. The interiors were designed by Richard Hallberg, and it is known that there will be enough room for 12 guests plus the owners, and room for up to 27 crew members.
Lonian is expected to be delivered to her owner later in 2018.

The latest addition to Feadship ’s fleet, LONIAN left the Aalsmeer shipyard to complete sea trials last month. A video released by the shipyard shows the journey she made, navigating the canals and bridges as she headed towards Rotterdam. In a journey which took two days, the motor yacht came up against 15 bridges and attracted throngs of onlookers eager to see the sleek superyacht up close.  The video also highglights the challenges that Feadship faces when transporting their yachts via the waterways. Several of the bridges don’t offer a wide enough space for megayachts to comfortably fit through, and the crew on board LONIAN are slow and meticulous when moving her through the tight gaps. Previously known as Project 700, custom-built motor yacht LONIAN offers a wealth of amenities across four expansive decks. Committed to comfort, she is fitted with a Jacuzzi, helipad and private tender garage to store her state-of-the-art accessories.
