Hi, I just received my Yacht Brite Pro Polish by Shurhold. I will be using my Porter Cable 7424XP DA polisher. The gelcoat on my boat is in excellant condition with no signs of chalking/oxidation. I have a few questions for those of you that used this product; 1) Is the black Shurhold Pro Polish pad the same type of pad made by Lake Country? Lake Country 6.5 Inch CCS Pads 6 Pack - Your Choice! 2) What pad have you used with the best results? 3) Have you used Shurholds Shaggy Brite Bonnet? Brite Bonnet Final Polish Pad - Buffing Machines & Pads | Shurhold If so, what's your thoughts and opinions? 4) Overall, how do you like the Pro Polish? I realize that I'm asking alot, but any tips and/or suggestions would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray 5) I have factory decals on the side. Will this polish harm them? Re: Yacht Brite Pro Polish by Shurhold; Have You Used This?? I liked it a lot when I used it last season. I applied it by hand and buffed it out with my porter cable. Very easy to use and seemed to last for a very long time. It is also easy to buff by hand in those areas the your polisher won't reach.

In answer to doyal; I do polish my boat and keep on top of it. That's why my 2006 deck boat looks factory new without the chalk and oxidation. Been using Klasse AIO by hand, but now decided to try the Pro Polish by using a DA. Thanks again for the replies, Ray  

Yacht Brite Pro Polish

Protecting and sealing a boat's fragile gelcoat is extremely important in maintaining its rich and shiny surface, and boaters have relied on either wax or polish for this task in the past.

However, said Shurhold, - the maker of the Yacht Brite range of boat cleaning products, - polish is much more effective than wax in adding years to the life of a boat's finish.

Shurhold said that while waxes are organically based, the company's Yacht Brite Pro Polish is polymer based, which fills in the pores of a boat's surface.

Wax, said Shurhold, only seals the surface, trapping air and causing the fibreglass to yellow over time, while polish creates a UV-shielding protective shell that still allows the fibreglass to breathe. With a higher melting point and better abrasion resistance, polish has a much higher level of durability, said the company.

In one easy step, Shurhold said Pro Polish produces a glossy finish while protecting against sun, salt, acid rain and other harsh environmental elements, and not only is the polish faster and more convenient to apply, it's also more economical. The company said Pro Polish is formulated with cosmetic-grade ingredients and doesn't contain talc or fillers, like wax.

Polish removes existing micro-contamination in the pores of a boat's surface, said Shurhold, and this elimination, followed by the application of a sealant, enormously slows down the oxidation process to prolong the life of a boat's surface.

The manufacturer said Pro Polish is safe and effective on fibreglass and gelcoat exterior surfaces, clear coat and painted surfaces, glass, plastic, plexiglass, and stainless steel railings.

Shurhold's Pro Polish is available in a range of sizes from 473ml up to 3.8lt.

Just as I was ready to buy my wax and buffer and get started, new info came my way. I was told by a very well seasoned boater that although wax is good and organic in nature, it only covers the gelcoat and locks in air that causes oxidation. He told me to watch a video produced by Ship Shape TV. It addresses the question of wax vs. a polymer polish. The CEO of Shurhold Induustries , the parent company of Yacht Brite, talks in detail about how these new polishes are much better for the preservation of gelcoat. It makes sense to me. Your thoughts?
