Elba Yacht Charter

The island of Elba is the largest remaining stretch of land from the ancient tract that once connected the Italian peninsula to Corsica. The northern coast of Elba faces the Ligurian Sea, the eastern coast the Piombino Channel, the southern coast the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Corsica channel divides the western tip of the Island from neighbouring Corsica.

The island of Elba has about 30,000 inhabitants.  The central part of Elba is a flat section and it is just 4 kms wide. Here you can find the major centres of Portoferraio and Campo nell'Elba. You can see the oldest part of the island towards the east. The hilly area is dominated by deposits of iron that has been formed from the mantle below the surface due to volcanic activities.

Sunday: Ortano (Approx. 11 NM) – Terranera – Mola Gulf – Porto Azzurro (Approx. 5 NM)

Navigate to Ortano, a snorkeling paradise. In the afternoon, make a stop at Terranera Lake, a small mining basin with emerald-green sulfuric waters contrasting with the deep blue sea and the red sand tongue, providing a truly captivating view. Anchor in the Gulf of Mola for the night and, with the tender, enjoy the lively nightlife of Porto Azzurro.

Monday: Remaiolo (Approx. 6 NM) – Norsi – Stella Gulf (Approx. 6 NM)

Begin the journey towards Marina di Campo, suggesting a dip in the stunning Remaiolo area. With a paddleboard or kayak, explore the magical stretch of coastline with marine caves and clear waters. Along Capoliveri’s coastline, indulge in a seafood fry at Iroko Beach Club on the small Norsi beach. Whether you choose to anchor for the night, the Stella Gulf offers a safe shelter.

Tuesday: Stella Gulf – Marina di Campo (Approx. 7 NM)

Continue exploring the Stella Gulf, reaching Marina di Campo, where typical and gourmet restaurants await, along with a beautiful stroll through local shops. Well-stocked supermarkets and local fish markets for your galley needs can also be found here.

Wednesday: Snorkeling at Fetovaia (Pomonte Wreck) (Approx. 5 NM) – Cape Sant’Andrea (Approx. 7 NM) – Marciana Marina (Approx. 6 NM)

Start the day with snorkeling amid the charming depths of Fetovaia and, a bit later, explore the southwest side of Ogliera Rock at the Pomonte wreck, located just 12 meters deep. Continue towards Cape Sant’Andrea or Marciana Marina for an overnight stay.

Thursday: Marciana Marina – Gulf of Viticcio – Portoferraio (approx. 6 NM)

Resume navigation towards the Gulf of Viticcio, where you’ll be surrounded by lush greenery of Mediterranean vegetation blending with the deep blue of its crystal-clear waters. Before docking in Portoferraio, enjoy a magnificent stretch of coastline. White, towering cliffs over the sea will treat you to a breathtaking cruise. In Portoferraio, you’ll find charming restaurants and nightlife.

Friday: Portoferraio – Isola dei Topi – San Vincenzo (approx. 19 NM)

Set sail early to snorkel at Isola dei Topi and marvel at its colorful seabed. Depending on the weather, calculate a suitable return time to San Vincenzo by 5:00 PM for refueling and returning the catamaran to the technicians. Our lovely base in San Vincenzo is a small gem of the Tyrrhenian Sea, with local shops and establishments adjacent to the marina. Weekend evenings feature a mix of aperitifs and music, along with local festivals and small events. Gourmet restaurants and a well-equipped children’s park are available. Around Elba, you can enjoy a week of leisurely sailing, swimming, strolling in the bays and visiting beautiful island sites. If you like, you can also make a detour to Porto Capraia on the island of the same name or sail northwards along the west coast of Italy towards Cinque Terra. But Elba is also a good port of departure for sailing trips to Sardinia or the French island of Corsica. Sail from Elba to the famous Strait of Bonefacio between Sardinia and Corsica. A special highlight is a visit to the La Magdalena Archipelago. The well-known Italian archipelago is located directly on the north coast of Sardinia, on the Strait of Bonifacio and is a popular destination for a yacht charter from Sardinia or Elba. Infrastructure and shopping in Portoferraio 

The marina is in the urban area of Portoferraio. It has the usual facilities of a marina and a petrol station. From the small restaurant you have a view of the sea. There is also a very well-stocked supermarket close to the marina where you can buy provisions for your sailing trip. 

Arriving at your yacht charter in Elba 

The island of Elba has good flight and ferry connections all year round. In the summer months, there are regular direct flights to Elba from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and of course Italy. The preferred airports for travelling to Elba for sailing are Pisa and Florence. From here there are very good rail connections to Piombino Marittima, where the ferry to Elba departs. Direct transfers from the airports are also available.  However, there are also very good connecting flights to Elba from the Italian airports of Pisa, Florence, Milan, Bologna and Rome. The airport in Elba is in La Pila and is very easy to reach with a short transfer.

You can also reach your yacht charter in your own car; a supervised car park is available in the marina.  Elba is only 10 km from the Italian mainland. There are ferry connections from Piombino Marittima on the mainland to Elba several times a day. The crossing takes only one hour. The ferry terminal on Elba is just near the base in Portoferraio.

Elba has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Elba is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (3412 DITA) 1,250hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 12 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots. Her water tanks store around 7,400 Litres of fresh water. She was built to RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) C ✠ classification society rules.
