We had a fabulous time at Kent Island Yacht Club the past 4 nights - 7/4-8/24. It's such a beautiful and friendly place. There was a woman with a beautiful voice singing on Friday night and a great band on Saturday night. Both nights our waitress/server Carolyn was such a sweet gal and as busy as it was she was good. We have a motorhome and stayed in the campground area.The campground area was laid out so nice and spacious. Many thanks to Coy and his crew for making this happen. We will definitely be back.
I grew at the KIYC with my grandparents My grandfather was a Commodore there. Used to be great dinners from Wednesday to Sunday when the members came down from Spring to fall. The speed boat regattas I was even there every Easter for the easter egg hunt from 4 yrs old to 9 yrs old. Its a shame to see that hardly anything that built the club is even taking place anymore. The menus are just more expensive versions of McDonalds. The used to have the best pies. It would be nice to see events of old held again. I still have my grandmothers yacht club bracelet that members from other clubs when they visited would buy the clubs bangles and trade theirs for KIYCs maybe it will happen again but now as much as i wanted to submit my membership and continue my grandfathers name and tradition and have a place to go on the weekends to relax it doesn't seem like it would be as much fun
I was a member here approx. ten years ago. At that time there was a very good kitchen that served great meals. On Friday evening's there was an excellent buffet. I'm sorry to hear they no longer offer meals. I found the members to be friendly for the most part. There are always individuals wherever you go that are a bit difficult to deal with. Just ignore! The reason I am no longer a member is because I moved from the area.
