Built by the eminent German shipyard in 2021, the 55.5m (182ft) displacement yacht MOON SAND showcases true Lürssen pedigree, with her distinctive lines and spacious decks flaunting her superyacht status to full effect. 

Considered a truly bespoke motor yacht , both her exterior and interior design are the work of esteemed London studio Bannenberg & Rowell, where color and texture have been meticulously curated harnessing the finest materials to create an overall luxurious yet contemporary feel throughout her 835 GT volume.

On board highlights for charter guests include a recessed counter-current swimming pool on her main deck surrounded by sumptuous seating and loungers, as well as a wide array of interior and al fresco dining options and state-of-the-art audio-visual systems throughout the yacht.

The yacht also provides ample opportunity to relax and unwind, with access to a dedicated gymnasium and wellness facilities.

From her main deck, steps lead down to a wide swim platform providing easy access to the water. She is also equipped with a variety of the latest toys on the market to ensure her guests make the most out of the sun and sea, as well as a chase boat for day-long excursions.

Superyacht MOON SAND provides accommodation for 10 guests across five suites, including a vast on-deck master stateroom.

About Shinkai

A striking mast and the yacht’s very own submarine: these were just two of the specific requests by an owner who has enormous experience of discovering the world by sea. Like every genuinely custom superyacht, the design for Shinkai revolved around these specific choices of the client. In this case the key was how best to incorporate a 7.2-tonne submarine on the aft deck along with the giant crane required for launching and collection. Taking this as the starting point, designer Philippe Briand and the teams at Vitruvius and Feadship have developed a 55-metre explorer yacht which will be able to travel the world while remaining both self-sufficient and fuel-efficient.

Rosetti Superyachts presents new 55-metre Support Vessel

Italian shipyard Rosetti Superyachts has created a new addition to the RSY range, which includes the 38-metre EXP and the 65-metre EXP Explorers. The new stylish yet rugged 55-metre Support Vessel was developed with HydroTec, the studio behind the design and naval architecture of the 38-metre Explorer currently in build.

Inspired by Rosetti Marino’s extensive experience in the construction of working vessels, capable of operating in extreme conditions, this Support Vessel is the perfect link between the shipyard’s expertise in commercial shipbuilding and the world of explorer yachts, able to cruise long distances in all kinds of sea and weather conditions.

“ Our 55m Support Vessel, conceived in collaboration with HydroTec, embodies the DNA of Rosetti Marino’s experience in the naval sector, offering the market a more comfortable and refined version of a commercial vessel, but preserving at the same time the core characteristics of safety and reliability at sea,” says Ermanno Bellettini , Chairman and CEO of Rosetti Superyachts.

The 55-metre Support Vessel offers superyacht owners a shadow vessel that can house extra crew and staff, essential for providing impeccable on-board service on the main ship.  Thanks to the vast 224 sqm open deck, there is ample space to accommodate a range of toys and tenders, submarines, a helicopter and containers for cargo and provisions.

A steel hull with low hydrodynamic resistance, an aluminium superstructure and balanced weight distribution all provide for minimised motion and increased comfort under way.

“ With a top speed of 22 knots, thanks to two 2,600 HP engines, this Support Vessel is fast enough to reach destinations ahead of the mothership so that all the tenders and toys can be unloaded and ready for the guests on arrival,” adds Andrea Giora , Sales & Marketing Director of Rosetti Superyachts.

Should the owner and guests choose to spend time on board, the main deck can be equipped with a comfortable salon, galley, the owner’s suite and 3 double cabins, while the lower deck can host up to 7 cabins for the crew. Naturally, the interior design can be completed to the owner’s specifications depending on personal preference and the primary purpose of the vessel.

Captain of superyacht that sank off Sicily doesn't respond to prosecutors' questions, lawyer says

ROME (AP) — The captain of a superyacht that sank during a storm off Sicily last week, killing seven people, decided not to respond to prosecutors’ questions Tuesday, his lawyer said.

James Cutfield, a 51-year-old New Zealand national, is under investigation for possible manslaughter and culpable shipwreck charges and was questioned for the third time by the Termini Imerese prosecutors Tuesday.

“He just exercised his right to remain silent, probably prosecutors were expecting that,” lawyer Aldo Mordiglia told The Associated Press, adding that the captain’s legal team has just been named and needs time to work on his defensive strategy.

Cutfield was among 15 survivors of the Aug. 19 sinking that killed British tech magnate Mike Lynch , his daughter Hannah and five others.

Chief prosecutor Ambrogio Cartosio, who’s heading the investigation, has said his team would consider each possible element of responsibility including those of the captain, the crew, individuals in charge of supervision and the yacht’s manufacturer.

The Bayesian, a 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged luxury yacht, went down near the Mediterranean island in southern Italy. Investigators are focusing on how a sailing vessel deemed “unsinkable” by its manufacturer, Italian shipyard Perini Navi, sank while a nearby sailboat remained largely unscathed.

Prosecutors said the event was “extremely rapid” and could have been a “downburst” — a localized, powerful wind that descends from a thunderstorm and spreads out rapidly upon hitting the ground.

The crew was saved, except for the chef, while six passengers were trapped in the hull.
