cat owner. My wife and I enjoy island cruising and are looking for an affordable cat to keep in the for recreational use via month-long trips in the . Several 39's from the 2002-2005 era are on the market in my range (< $200K). I will have a survey/sea trial done on my final choice, but would appreciate input from the group about any special problems with the 39s that could lead to expensive , large loss of value, etc. I'm thinking about running , special de-lamination concerns, structural matters, engines problems, low resale challenges, etc. All comments are appreciated.

93, and by the time my hull was constructed, they knew what they were doing.

The one common problem was the liner needing replacement after about ten years because the foam backing on the liner broke down making the sag.

We never had any structural problems.

I have 4500 hours on each without any problems.

Very robust .

  1. Privilege 39; goods and bads? - Cruisers & Sailing Forums

We have a Privilege 39. The reason we purchased a privilege was it's representation. It is a strong boat, very solid and I feel safe in it. Ours is a 1991 and I have done a lot of cosmetic updates on the boat in the 3 years we have owned her, but the hulls are solid with very little blistering.

  2. Privilege 39 - Sailing Magazine

The Privilege 39 is a terrific boat for a family of six to sail around the world. It is a fine boat for knocking around the Caribbean on a sailing sabbatical. It's not a bad boat to start a charter business with either.

  3. Privilege 39 - Sailing Magazine

The Privilege 39, unlike many cruising cats, is a masthead rig and most are set up with a fixed staysail stay. This is ideal for tradewind sailing. It is a burden to carry a big, roachy main when running for days on end and it's frustrating trying to fill a small, fractionally rigged headsail.

  4. Experiences with 1992-1995 Priviledge 39's? - Cruisers ...

My wife and I enjoy island cruising and are looking for an affordable cat to keep in the Leeward Islands for recreational use via month-long trips in the eastern Caribbean. Several Privilege 39's from the 2002-2005 era are on the market in my price range (< $200K).

  5. PRIVILEGE 39 - sailboatdata

Also called PRIVILEGE 12 and ALLIAURA 39. Most were initially sold to the charter trade.

  6. 1992 Privilege 39 Catamaran for sale - YachtWorld

This Privilege 39 Catamaran fits the bill. It is in great shape, has been fully renovated in 2023, and is ready for its next adventure. It has 4 cabins, 2 bathrooms, and a ton of space. All of the upgrades are detailed below. This sailboat is perfect for cruising the islands, can be used for a charter business, or could be used as a live aboard.
