MAN OF STEEL Yacht – Premier $150 M Superyacht

Measuring 86 meters, she is one of the world’s largest yachts.

Previously known as SEVEN SEAS, the name was inspired by the fact Spielberg had seven children. He owned the vessel from her delivery in 2010 through to 2021.

The interior of the MAN OF STEEL yacht includes a fully equipped gym, a spa, a beach club, a movie theatre, a beauty salon, a dance floor, and of course, a glass elevator that connects the different levels of the yacht. 

The gym is arguably one of the most impressive parts of this superyacht as it has floor-to-ceiling windows providing great views from one of the upper decks of the vessel.

This allows guests to have a beautiful view of not only the pool below but also the breathtaking scenery this yacht might pass when underway.

The private owners’ deck offers a fantastic state-of-the-art master bedroom with its own dressing room as well as an attached office or study. This suite includes its own private deck area with a sizable jacuzzi perfect for relaxing and drinking a glass of wine under starry skies. 

The six additional luxurious suites can accommodate 12 additional guests allowing the MAN OF STEEL to welcome up to 14 guests in total who are tended to by 23 crew members. The MAN OF STEEL interior was designed by Nuvolari & Lenard and Molly Isaksen and is equipped with exquisite furniture made of walnut, teak, and rosewood, accented with natural materials and fabrics.

The design of the yacht interior is simple yet classy, with clean and minimalist spaces. Wooden furnishings can be found in all parts of the vessel, although the interior is not as opulently furnished and decorated as other superyachts in its price category.

Nuvolari & Lenard is a renowned design duo that specializes in traditional yacht design for vessels between 25 and 185 meters in length. Their aim is to redefine beauty while keeping classical elements in mind.

In collaboration with the American interior designer Molly Isaksen, they created a one-of-a-kind fusion of naval architecture, incorporating contemporary and traditional elements in the interior of this beautiful vessel. The MAN OF STEEL offers a 250 square feet semi-covered sundeck, which is located adjacent to the main salon that provides enough space for larger events and celebrations aboard the vessel. A crew of 23 members of staff offers an excellent 5-star service and fulfills every possible wish of the guests onboard the MAN OF STEEL superyacht.

With excellent fine dining capabilities and luxurious amenities, this yacht is ideal for private ownership as well as high-end charter service.

Yacht specifications

The MAN OF STEEL has a length of 86 meters (282.15 ft) with a beam of 14.2 meters (46.6 ft) and a draft of 3.91 meters (13 ft)​​.

She was built by Oceana in Alblasserdam, the Netherlands using mainly steel and aluminum which is their specialty. MAN OF STEEL was completed and delivered to Steven Spielberg in 2010. The yacht has her main port in George Town, the capital of the Cayman Islands, under whose flag she sails and she has been spotted as far south as the port of Puerto Escondido . With a weight of 2.658 tons and an output of 6,984 kW (9,496 hp), the MAN OF STEEL can reach top speeds of 20 knots.

Her maximum range lies at 4,750 nautical miles, which is respectable considering her size.

Yacht exterior

Designed by Azure Naval Architects and styled by Nuvolari & Lenard, the MAN OF STEEL yacht combines exceptional craftsmanship with unique outlines. The hull of the ship is set in an elegant dark blue, while the upper decks were left in the traditional brilliant white that many yachts bear. On the aft deck, you will find an impressive infinity pool with an incredible 4.6 meter (15 ft) glass wall, which doubles as a movie screen if required. The aft has another slightly smaller pool as well as a sizable deck with comfortable seating. This deck can be used as a helipad for smaller aircraft allowing guests to arrive in style. When this area isn’t needed for landing purposes, it can be covered completely by large awnings providing additional shade to guests.

Toys and equipment

A yacht this size naturally comes with lots of toys and equipment to entertain the guests onboard.

The MAN OF STEEL carries four jet skis, several sea bobs, kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling equipment, and much more. 

The two tenders onboard the vessel are always ready to take the guests to the mainland or to the nearest secluded beach.

Spielberg purchased them from Hodgdon Yachts, a shipyard based in Maine in the United States after MAN OF STEEL was delivered in 2010.

The larger of the two tenders, the Limo, has space for twelve people with luxurious leather upholstery, flatscreen television, and air conditioning.

When the weather is nice, the roof of the tender can be lifted and opened using hydraulics.

Additional information

In 2013 MAN OF STEEL was overhauled and refitted by Amico & Co, a well-known superyacht repair and design company.

The shipyard is based in Genoa, Italy, and has a 60,000 m² dock and operating area where work on both smaller and larger vessels can be carried out.

Charter yacht of the week: the 86m Oceanco Man of Steel that kept the world guessing for more than 10 years

Each week, we place a spotlight on the world’s finest superyachts for charter . This week, BOAT delves into the details of the 86-metre Man of Steel, the yacht that has maintained a sparkling reputation more than 10 years after her delivery…

After she hit the water in 2010, the 86-metre Oceanco , Man of Steel (ex Seven Seas ), remained shrouded in secrecy. She cruised the world, teasing onlookers as to what lies beneath the surface, and with an exterior so commanding, people were longing to see her interiors. In 2021, the superyacht was sold , renamed and after more than 10 years in secrecy, was introduced to the charter market revealing her remarkable interiors and a long list of top charter credentials.

To this day, Man of Steel represents an exciting period for Dutch superyacht builder, Oceanco, with predecessors including 85.5-metre Sunrays (2010) , 85.5-metre Vibrant Curiosity (2009), and 75.5-metre Wheels (2008), all who had the industry’s attention. 

Fast forward to 14 years later, and we can still see why these yachts were such mighty achievements as they are now mostly available for charter and each lies in immaculate condition.

Contemporary and elegant; are the words that were often used to describe her hidden interiors across the world. Frustratingly, this gave nothing away, but now we see how few better worlds could be used to encapsulate these spaces, which are warm and welcoming thanks to her soft colour palate.

Created in collaboration between Nuvolari Lenard and Molly Isaksen, her interior spaces are filled with cream furniture and softened somewhat with light woods and loud contemporary art. Intricately designed indirect lighting helps to bring the spaces to life, giving the welcome impression of floating furniture and more natural light throughout. As you step aboard and head to the main saloon, guests will be presented with a huge space, centred around a large U-shaped sofa flanked by bookcases.

Persian rugs are placed upon oak flooring throughout the yacht, while cushions do well to inject colour into the space. She boasts a state-of-the-art private cinema with tiered seating and a 10-square-metre screen. Should guests wish to watch a movie under the stars, another outside projector plays onto a 4.5-metre glass wall by the infinity pool on the aft deck.

Widely recognised for her vast spa centre with a gym and resident therapist, those looking to keep up with the fitness routine can do so in the fully stocked gym, steam room, or with a massage on board.

Life on board Man of Steel

Accommodation on board is for 12 comprising the owner’s suite on a private deck with a Jacuzzi, a full-beam VIP, three doubles and one triple cabin on the main deck and a further sea cabin on the lower deck, which is big enough for three. The owner's cabin benefits from a huge walk-in wardrobe with white carpets, as well as an oak-panelled office for those who need to check in during their stay. The crew quarters meanwhile allow for a staff of 28.

Guests can arrive in style thanks to the touch-and-go helipad, and then spend their days on deck soaking up the sunshine in her two pools surrounded by sun loungers and al fresco dining spaces. With an aft deck that offers a colossal 250 square metres of space, it's easy to see why Man of Steel is an entertainer at heart.

Each of the decks is connected with a large glass elevator that can whisk guests from the sea cabin on the lower deck, right up to the sundeck at the touch of a button.

As you cruise the western Med, guests can relax at the main saloon bar sipping spicy margaritas bask in the sun on deck or in the Jacuzzi. Thanks to zero-speed stabilisers, cruising will be steady with little movement from the swell.

Sailing Yacht TAMSEN received her elegant interior designing from the interior design skills of Perini Navi. Built by Perini Navi this vessel was completed in the recognised yachting country Italy. She was successfully launched in Viareggio in 2007 before being handed over to the owner. A fairly large area is manifested with a maximum beam (width) of 10.27 metres / 33.7 feet. With a 8.39m (27.5ft) draught (maximum depth) she is reasonably 8.39 (27.5 ft). The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure above deck is created from aluminium. In 2008 further refitting and modernisation was in addition finished.

She utilises twin proven CATERPILLAR diesel engine(s) and can find a impressive max continuous speed of 15 knots. The main engine of the ship creates 965 horse power (or 720 kilowatts). Her total HP is 1930 HP and her total Kilowatts are 1440. TAMSEN has a/an industrious cruise speed is 12 knots which makes a range of 3400.

The 43.9m/144' motor yacht 'Alaska of George Town' (ex. Alaska of George Town) was built by Shipworks Brisbane in Australia. Her interior is styled by design house Bernie Cohen Design and she was delivered to her owner in February 2004. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Bernie Cohen Design and she was last refitted in 2015.

With an exceptional list of features. On the lower deck there is a 200 square meter beach club and wellness center with a large pool, two lounge and bar areas, sea terraces to port and starboard, private gym, massage and treatment room, hammam and beauty salon. There are also double and twin cabins on the lower deck for guests, children or staff. From the lower deck there is step-free access to an elevator serving the bridge deck.

There are five more guest suites on the main deck, including a children's playroom, a tiered movie theater and a full-beam VIP suite with a private lounge. Aft of the main deck is a huge area dedicated to the stowage of three of the yacht's four tenders. These include a 12.5 m (41 ft) custom-built aluminum catamaran limousine/beach-lander, an 11.6 m sport fishing Fountain 38 and a RIB, as well as a covered stowage area for the collection of water toys. Once the boats are launched, this area has the potential for a range of guest activities.

ANOTHER WORLD ON EVERY FLOOR

On the bridge deck, the owner's suite faces aft, with en-suite bathroom, walk-in wardrobe and access to the Jacuzzi and sunbathing areas on the aft terrace. The side decks lead towards the seating forward of the bridge. There are also two children's cabins on the upper deck, which can also be used as staff cabins. The 12 cabins can accommodate up to 24 guests.

The upper deck is all about entertaining. The aft deck features a sit-down bar, an outdoor dining area for 16 people and banquette seating, as well as a Jacuzzi and sun loungers. Walking side decks lead to the touch-and-go helipad on the foredeck, which can also be used as an entertainment area or sun lounge. Inside the sky lounge there are lounge seating and a seating bar, an observation lounge with wrap-around views and a baby grand piano up front, as well as a formal dining room and a second, more intimate lounge.

There are two lounge areas with their own working fireplace on the sun deck for after dinner and also a wine cellar, humidor and an outdoor terrace aft to enjoy your cigar.

Twin 1,475hp Caterpillar diesel engines give her a top speed of 17 knots, a cruising speed of 13 knots and an expedition yacht range of 14,000nm. It also features zero speed stabilizers to ensure comfort on arrival.

Off the Hook Yachts Acquires 300-Slip Marina in Georgetown Maryland  

The Acquisition 

Off the Hook Yachts is proud to announce the acquisition of Georgetown Yacht Basin (GYB) now rebranding under Georgetown Yacht Haven – a 300-boat slip full-service marina located on the Sassafras River in Georgetown, MD.  Off the Hook plans to restore the yacht basin to its former glory and reconnect with the local community in order to establish it as a household name in the area. 

As our founder is originally from Maryland, this will complement our current presence in the area, along with our MD sales team, which currently operates out of Bay Bridge Marina. The acquisition of the marina will allow us to expand on sales, service, and custom-built Nor-Tech Performance Boat sales in the region. Georgetown Yacht Haven has 300 slips, two paint sheds that can hold up to a 110-foot yacht, a 110-ton travel lift, a fuel dock, a swimming pool, bathhouses, and a complete ship store, along with many other amenities. GYH controls the largest travel lift in Northern Chesapeake Bay.
