Created in 1973, the Grand Pavois La Rochelle has become one of the major events in the international boat show calendar as it has seen the number of exhibitors attending multiplied by 20 and visitor numbers 30-fol to make the Grand Pavois one of the largest international in-water boat shows. 10,000 square metres of exhibition space, themed areas catering to special interests, 750 boats on show including 300 in the water, over 800 international brands.

he Grand Pavois boat show is the first one of the new season and once again remains faithful to its stated ambition of meeting the needs of the professionals in the business. La Rochelle Yacht Show starts on 28 September

6 days in French La Rochelle on the occasion of the international boat show will give visitors bright and unforgettable emotions.

Yacht show Grand Pavois in La Rochelle

This year at the annual exhibition  Grand pavois , which will take place from September 28 to October 3, will debut a lot of new products among sailing yachts, motor boats, pneumatic boats, yacht equipment, accessories and much more.

On the territory of the exhibition will be open not only the stands of shipyards and manufacturers of equipment, yacht clothing, chemicals for boats, but also an area for fans of fishing, including sports, as well as bars, restaurants with the freshest seafood and boutiques.

In total within the event  Grand pavois  750 boats will be on display on 100,000 square meters. Among them, 250 yachts will be available to the public for the first time. Visitors to the exhibition will be able not only to see the exterior of the new products, but also to go inside, as well as sign up for a test drive and receive a significant discount when ordering what they like if a deal is concluded before the end of the bot show.

The 44th edition of the La Rochelle Yacht Salon will be held under the slogan “Defend Our Oceans”.  For the first time, a yacht exhibition in this small picturesque town was organized back in 1973. From year to year, the number of visitors is growing rapidly, and the exhibition itself has received international status. The 2016 show is expected to be attended by 90,000 yachting enthusiasts from around the world.

Adults - 10 euros (the ticket is valid for 1 day)

Teenagers from 13 to 18 years old / students / groups of 10 people - 6.5 euros / person.

Family rate - 2m adults with 1/2 teenagers from 13 to 18 - free admission for teenagers

Children under 12 years old - admission is free

The Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2022 has confirmed that it is a business show, a novelty show, an appointment for tomorrow’s boating trends, an afloat appointment offering the possibility of offering sea trials and a benchmark for French and European boating. Also, the Board of Directors of Grand Pavois Organization has unanimously decided to shift the dates by one day in 2023 to allow boating professionals to have 48 hours between the Mediterranean meeting of the Cannes Yachting Festival and the Reference appointment for all enthusiasts of the Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2023.

2023- The Grand Pavois La Rochelle, international in-water boat show

Grand pavois, la rochelle.

The "Grand Pavois" it's visitors for 6 days, surveying 3 km of pontoons, examining, 300 boats afloat and 450 on land , finding out about the latest technology, discovering equipment and gear for a myriad of water sports (sailing, powerboating, diving, fishing, and more…). And testing, trying out material and activities!

The site actually proposes, and it’s one of its strong points given its location on the waterfront, outings on-board the boats so that visitors can test the vessel of their dreams before buying. It also has an extensive area for trying out jet-skis, SUP yoga, wake-boarding as well as a host of other equipment demonstrations.

The site, overlooking the famous towers guarding the maritime entrance to the town, invites visitors to enjoy thematic spaces, stands exhibiting over 800 international brands and an incredible choice of events . The programme will soon be published, check it out!

Major in-water shows such as Miami, Cannes and Sydney confirmed their appeal, combining a plethora of offerings with undeniable public interest. For indoor shows, on the other hand, all is not well! Last year’s alarming messages following the last “Nautic de Paris” in December 2022 were unfortunately confirmed by the postponement of the French event, which will nonetheless be relaunched in a more nautical format - more river-based, to be precise - in October. The problem with this new date is that it’s on a collision course with Annapolis and Barcelona. As far as we know, the “Nautic en Seine” is being seen as a new show that seems to appeal to monohull charter companies and builders... but not to multihull manufacturers! It’s worth pointing out that the boatbuilders we’re interested in are to some extent the rainmakers when it comes to indoor events. These events are no longer immune to the kind of wide-ranging, no-holds-barred collaboration that can result in all but a boycott. The extent of this can be seen at Düsseldorf, where only Quorning Yachts is exhibiting a trimaran, with Excess content with just a simple booth. However, powercat manufacturers such as YOT and Prestige are certainly there. This lack of interest from multihull manufacturers can be explained by transport costs, and the less-than-green image of the transport itself, but also by the fact that the parade of “winter showrooms” set up during the Covid period proved so seductive that the idea is taking root for good in Europe, and in an even more permanent format in the USA. As far as the Multihulls World team is concerned, our presence on both sides of the Atlantic means that we make sure we’re attending at as many events as possible! La Rochelle : dans les coulisses de la location de yachts

La Rochelle, ville de yachts ? À première vue, pas de mastodonte de plusieurs dizaines de mètres dans le port des Minimes, mais derrière le terme « yacht » se cache en réalité une multitude de bateaux possibles, dont certains peuvent être loués à La Rochelle

D ans l’imaginaire collectif, les yachts sont surtout l’apanage de personnalités fortunées sur la Côte d’Azur. Difficile de concevoir le port de plaisance des Minimes à l’image de celui de Monaco. Pourtant, un marché similaire, moins connu, existe à La Rochelle. « Souvent les gens pensent qu’un yacht ne peut pas être à voile, tout comme un catamaran ne pourrait pas être à moteur, et donc que La Rochelle n’est pas une ville de yachts », avance comme explication Anne Colson, co-dirigeante de l’agence de location Pamplemousse by Kapalouest à La Rochelle.

Un secteur dans l’ombre

L’activité des loueurs de yachts sur la côte atlantique se réalise essentiellement entre avril et fin octobre, une période plus courte qu’en Méditerranée et plus incertaine également. « Cette année, en mai et juin, ça a été super compliqué car on a eu beaucoup de pluie, ce qui nous a conduits à reporter ou annuler beaucoup de prestations », illustre ainsi Philippe Mazon, dirigeant d’Idélocat et skipper sur son catamaran de 12 mètres.

Pourtant, la location de bateaux privatifs (avec skipper) représente près de la moitié de l’activité d’une société telle que Pamplemousse by Kapalouest, largement implantée dans le secteur, et ce n’est pas une exception. D’autres sociétés à La Rochelle comme Open Sail ou Grassi Bateaux proposent des services similaires.

Une clientèle diverse

En Charente-Maritime, la clientèle se veut en général, discrète mais surtout diverse. « Il y a de tout, détaille Anne Colson. Beaucoup de sociétés qui veulent organiser des évènements, mais aussi des particuliers pour des anniversaires, des enterrements de vie de jeunes filles , des retrouvailles familiales, des demandes en mariage… »

Généralement, la réalité se trouve loin des clichés que l’on pourrait avoir sur les locataires de ces bateaux. « Certains clients s’adressent à nous pour disperser les cendres d’un défunt en mer par exemple », confie la cheffe d’entreprise. Du côté des vacanciers, «  les plus fortunés sont généralement sur l’île de Ré, mais il est assez difficile d’aller les chercher sur place, c’est un marché que j’exploite peu », indique Philippe Mazon.

Réservé aux millionnaires ?

La tarification de ces locations dépend surtout de trois facteurs, qui peuvent différer en fonction des prestataires : la durée de location, le type de bateau et la saison. Comptez quelques centaines d’euros pour une ballade de deux heures dans un catamaran, à plusieurs milliers d’euros – entre 2 000 et 10 000 euros, skippers inclus – pour y passer une journée et une nuit, avec parfois la possibilité d’y loger plus d’une dizaine de personnes. Les 24 heures sur un voilier de 13 mètres sont facturés 2 400 euros par exemple sur un site de location en ligne.

Les voiliers sont particulièrement prisés dans la région, pour des raisons historiques certes – La Rochelle accueille de nombreux constructeurs – mais avant tout économiques. Le plus coûteux dans une location pouvant être le prix du carburant. « Si un groupe veut louer un bateau privé pour une après-midi avec des jet skis, le carburant pour ceux-ci leur coûtera plus cher que la location du bateau », explique Anne Colson.

Des prestations complémentaires

De nombreux services à bord peuvent être sollicités par les clients. « C’est de la restauration presque à chaque fois », assurent les deux chefs d’entreprise. Et les demandes les plus farfelues sont loin des clichés fantasmés dans les films ou les séries : animation pour les entreprises comme des sensibilisations à la protection des océans, escape game ou encore guide de pêche.

Essor des sites et des fraudes

Comme pour les locations de maison, désormais, une part non négligeable de l’activité se passe en ligne avec Click & Boat, leader de la location de bateaux de plaisance dans le monde. Même Anne Colson s’est résignée à investir ce type de plateformes malgré les commissions : « C’est une porte d’entrée. Mais aucune réservation ne peut se faire exclusivement en ligne dans notre cas. Il est nécessaire de continuer à avoir les gens de vive voix. »

Et ces plateformes digitales permettent aussi à des particuliers de mettre en location leur bateau privé . Un phénomène inquiétant selon les deux professionnels. « C’est une activité très réglementée. On doit avoir réalisé une formation professionnelle et avoir obtenu le Brevet de Capitaine 200, détaille ainsi le dirigeant d’Idélocat. C’est un vrai métier de marin qu’on ne peut pas exercer juste parce qu’on sait bien naviguer. » Équipe non formée et insuffisamment nombreuse, assurance inadaptée… « En cas de problème, ça peut vite dégénérer », met en garde Anne Colson.
