The blairgowrie yacht squadron has a distinguished history – its old clubhouse has served many of its members and friends for over 50 years..
With dining, function & sailing facilities that will be the envy of many, Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron will form the centrepiece of community activity for many years to come. The location is exemplary, providing direct access to water & marina as well as a beautiful spot to relax & enjoy the bay. At sea level there’s a contemporary semi-outdoor canteen leading to an amazingly large grass landing to the shore. Here you can enjoy meals & snacks – it’s the one area that will be open to the public. On the upper level, the Southern Waters Room and the Racing Lounge bistro offer year round dining for members with a bar that services both areas & includes a huge deck with unsurpassed views. One of the key aspects to the new Clubhouse will be the ability to cater to first class functions for all – corporate events, conferences, private parties and very special seaside weddings. We loved the old Clubhouse but now there’s a facility that will be able to cater to a broader community. It’s one of this year’s great stories on the Pen.

Learn to Sail

One of the great things about sailing is the feeling of belonging to a community who love spending time together on the water. And when the day is over, sharing everything you did together with friends and family is pretty good too. At BYS we understand this and we know that the better you are at the fundamental skills of sailing, no matter what your age, the more fun you have.
That’s why BYS Sailing and Boating Centre is an accredited Discover Sailing Centre under the auspices of Australian Sailing. Which means that when you make the decision to learn to sail with us or improve your skills through any of our various training courses, you’ll be learning from the best.
Our family-orientated club provides a welcoming environment with first class facilities and programs that are all inclusive and affordable. At BYS there is an option to suit everyone when it comes to learning to sail, all our courses involve both on-water and classroom activities and are conducted by accredited Australian Sailing instructors and assistants who will support you every step of the way.

KIDS LEARN TO SAIL OPTIONS
It’s a fun, games-based sailing program designed for kids with no sailing experience. Help lay down the skills they need that will be with them for life.
Junior Sail Training
BYS welcomes all sailors aged 7-12, whether they have progressed through the Tackers program, have started learning to sail elsewhere, or have never sailed before!

Youth Sail Training
The BYS Youth Sail Training is designed for youth sailors aged 12-17 who have learnt the basics and are now looking to further develop their boat-handing and racing skills.
TEEN & ADULT LEARN TO SAIL
Dinghy Sailing
Learn to sail in small boats, from beginner to racing for teenagers and adults.
Keelboat Sailing
Learn to sail on 7m keelboats which are stable yet responsive vessels, working as a team with a group of sailors.
An instructive and fun program to learn how to drive a small powerboat.
SheSails is all about enjoying your sailing adventure in a fun, friendly and safe environment
Sailability
Making it easier for people with limited mobility or a disability to get on the water.
Youth J/70 Squad
