MARINA FACTS

• Windmill Harbour community is comprised of 3 separate entities : Property Owners Association (POA); South Carolina Yacht Club (SCYC); Marina Owners Association (MOA).
• Yacht Club membership is not required to own or rent a boat slip. SCYC typically offers trial membership to new slip owners, new renters and reciprocal privilege’s for affiliated club members. Contact the South Carolina Yacht Club for more information: 843-681-4844.
• Access to the Marina is controlled by a lock system, allows for an approximate depth of 8 feet inside of the harbour basin.
• Lock dimensions: approximately 70 feet long by 19 feet wide.
• Marina staff operate the lock seven days a week: 8 AM until 6 PM and until 7 PM during daylight saving time.
• Boaters entering/leaving the harbor must call the harbormaster on VHF channel 14 for passage through the lock
• Boat slips in the harbor range from 30 feet to 70 feet long.
• Marina office does not sell boat slips. Marina Owners Association (MOA) consists of 258 individually owned slips all sold through real estate professionals or privately by owners.
• Live-aboard policy is limited to 14 nights per calendar month. The marina does not allow full-time live-aboards.

SLIP RENTERS INFO

• Slip rental rates are on line : http://windmillharbourmarina.org/rent-a-slip/
• Rental Rates are based on the length of your boat and the slip it occupies. Example = if your boat is 19’ you will pay 25’ rate (minimum slip size);  if it is 26’ you will pay the 30’ rate, etc.
• Marina office handles the rental for the majority of available slips in the harbour
• Renters PLEASE complete the Dockage Application Form . It’s a short form giving the necessary info we need to serve you and reply quickly.
• Marina staff operate the lock seven days a week: 8 AM until 6 PM and until 7 PM during daylight saving.
• Marina services offered: gasoline and diesel fuel availability, pump-out services, no cost wifi service, laundry facilities, multiple sets of restrooms and showers, and guest usage of the community pool.
• Slip Owners or Renters who want to access the lock after hours can obtain an electronic key fob from the harbormaster office for a small fee. Marina staff train lock key-holders how to operate the lock properly and safely in a few minutes.

SLIP OWNERS INFO

• Residence in Windmill Harbour is not required to own a slip.
• Costs associated with slip ownership are detailed at “ Slip Ownership Fees ” in the Forms tab of this website. Cost is comprised 3 fees: Marina Owners Association + Property Owners Association + county taxes.
• Marina office handles the rental for the majority of available slips in the harbour . Owners can rent their slip themselves or opt to have the marina handle rentals. The MOA receives a 25% commission fee on rentals accomplished via the marina office. These fees directly support the marina operations budget and help reduce the cost of slip ownership.
• Marina services: Gasoline and diesel fuel availability, no cost pump-out services, wifi service, laundry facilities, 3 sets of restrooms and showers, and  usage of the community pool.
• Absence of tidal movement in the harbor largely prevents marine growth on hulls allowing bottom paint on boats to last far longer. Most boaters only need to hire local divers 2 to 3 times a year to clean boat bottoms.
• Boat length cannot measure more than the deeded slip length . Marina staff determines each boat length by measuring from the vessel’s first fixed point (e.g bow or bowsprit) to the last fixed point (e.g. outboard motor, swim platform, or other protruding structure). Also, there can be no more than 2 boats in one slip, and the total combined length (using the measurement method referenced above) cannot exceed the deeded length of the slip.
