Top 8 Game of Thrones filming locations to visit by boat

Barrika, northern spain.

Fictional setting:  Currently unknown

True location: Northern Spain

The much anticipated seventh season of Game of Thrones sees its film crew return to Iceland and Northern Ireland, but for the next chapter in the story, it is rumoured that some north-east coastal towns in Spain will also be appearing on our television screens — including Barrika, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and the Port of Bermeo. It is suspected that the incredible Muriola Beach in Barrika will be the landing site for Daenerys and her fleet of Dothraki soldiers.

How to visit: Superyachts can moor at the Maritime Museum at the heart of nearby Bilbao, a port city famed for its museums, contemporary art galleries, rustic restaurants and architecture. Alternatively, it can be arranged for superyachts of any length to berth in the Port of Bilbao's cruise quays or commercial docks. Take a private car to the filming locations, which are approximately an hour's drive away.

Fictional setting: North of the Wall, Wildling territory

True location: Various spots across Iceland was used to portray the icy stretches past the Wall at the border of the Seven Kingdoms. Many scenes were filmed on the Vatnajökull glacier at the heart of the island and at the Thingvellir National Park. Fans will recognise the glacial planes of Höfðabrekka as the 'Frostfang Mountains' from season two as well as Grjótagjá, a spring cave near Lake Mývatn that played host to Jon Snow and Ygritte in season three.

How to visit: Moor up in Reykjavík just outside of the old harbour, which is capable of berthing some of the world's largest yachts —  in fact,126 metre Octopus was been spotted here both in 2010 and 2015. There are a huge number of tours and excursions that can be organised from Reykjavík, so be sure to select your favourite spots to visit in advance.

To visit more northern locations such as the Grjótagjá cave, moor up at Akureyri, where 119 metre motor yacht A was spotted in May 2016.

Game of Thrones filming locations to visit by boat

Fictional setting: Qarth

Located on the south coast of Essos, Qarth is a trading city and is also sometimes known as the “Garden of Bones”.

True location: Trogir

One of many  hidden gems in Croatia , Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage site with strong Venetian influences, as it was taken over in the 15th century for almost 300 years, though it was founded long before that. In the series it portrays the trading harbour of Qarth, while Split and the Fortress of Klis are nearby and well worth a visit, as they were used for many of the scenes featuring the fictional town of Meereen. There are a number of incredible historical sites in Trogir such as the 13th century Cathedral of St Lawrence, as well as some beautiful eateries at which to enjoy dinner, such as Capo in the old town or Konobo Trs. The latter sports traditional wooden benches, old stone walls and a courtyard with a ceiling of sprawling grapevines and serves delicious seafood dishes.

How to visit: There are a number of beautiful superyacht anchorages in Croatia  — the nearest is just outside the Trogir bay by the island of Drvenik.

Fictional Setting: King’s Landing

The capital of George R. R. Martin’s mythical world of Westoros is a walled city that sits by a sparkling blue ocean, where the current royal family live in the Red Keep — home of the iconic Iron Throne. Not dissimilar to the likes of medieval London, the slums of the poor surround the walls.

True Location: Dubrovnik

The Old City area of Dubrovnik was used for large portions of filming after season one production emigrated to the UNESCO World Heritage site from Mdina in Malta. The Old Town of Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century and features an intricate tapestry of narrow streets with beautiful gardens, coffee houses, galleries and designer boutiques. There are some incredible things to do while visiting Croatia on a luxury yacht — The Stradum is a must for a relaxed evening cocktail, otherwise the world-famous cliff bars are a short walk away. The nearby island of Lokrum was also used as a filming location for the city of Qarth.

How to visit: There are excellent superyacht facilities in the city, making it perfect for a luxury yacht vacation in Croatia — the Adriatic Croatia International Club (ACI Dubrovnik) can accommodate yachts measuring up to 60 metres. Amenities include luxury shops, restaurant and bars as well as a tennis court, swimming pool and hairdresser.

Fictional setting: King’s Landing

True Location: Mdina

Before filming moved to Dubrovnik for season two, Mdina was the main filming location for King’s Landing. Known as the Silent City, Mdina’s history stretches back more than 4,000 years, and is home to many historical places of interest, such as the Roman Villa, catacombs and the Knights of St John cathedral. Aside from the museums and religious relics, there are some wonderfully quirky spots to sit back and relax. The Crystal Palace bakery is famous for its pastizzi and the Fontanella Tea Garden is renowned for its homemade cakes, pies and pastizzi.

How to visit: Valetta sports a vast natural harbour, the Grand Harbour Marina, which is set against a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers berths for superyachts measuring up to 135 metres, so it's definitely worth spending some time exploring Malta by superyacht .

Fictional setting: Pyke, The Iron Islands

In the Game of Thrones books and television show, The Iron Islands are a group of seven islands just west of Westeros. Ruled by House Greyjoy from the island of Pyke, it is cold, rugged and barren.

True location: Ballintoy Harbour

Ballintoy is a quintessentially rural Irish village and a lovely stop over for those exploring the rugged coastlines. It’s quaint and rustic, with a handful of shops and restaurants, as well as the famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. The harbour was featured in Game of Thrones as the port in The Iron Islands. It’s here where Theon Greyjoy first meets his sister Yara and admires his own ship. The Dark Hedges are also close at hand, which is a famous avenue of 18th century beech trees, where used as a location for the King’s Road.

How to visit: It may be a little off the beaten track for superyachts, but with the Giant’s Causeway and the Bushmills Distillery so close by, it’s definitely worth the trip. Larger vessels can moor in a number of locations in Belfast, but another option is to anchor out and then tender in to Ballycastle Marina. Unfortunately it can only accommodate yachts up to 20 metres but it is just a short drive to the Ballintoy Harbour and other attractions.

Fictional Setting: Meereen

The largest of the three slaver cities, Meereen is home to the Great Pyramid and a number of temples. Daenerys Targaryen conquers the colourful city and resides here as she makes her plans.

True Location: Peñíscola

Peñíscola (Castellón) was used in season six for the streets and gardens of Meereen, including the Door of Felipe II, Artillería Park and Plaza de Armas, Santa María Square. Peñíscola Castle was built between 1294 and 1307 by the Knights Templar, and the town itself is a beautiful fortified seaport that’s well worth exploring.

How to visit:  Spain enjoyed a bumper superyacht charter season last year, but there are no superyacht facilities near to Peñíscola. However, it is possible to tender into the picturesque Peñíscola Marina. Alternatively the Valencia Yacht Base is just under a two hour drive away, and they have berths for boats up to 120 metres with a huge range of superyacht services for those either on private boats or on a yacht charter around Spain's sunny coast .

Fictional setting: Sunspear, Dorne

Sunspear is the capital of Dorne, one of the seven kingdoms of Westoros ruled by House Martell. Dorne is connected to the rest of the continent through the Red Mountains and is bordered in the north by the Sea of Dorne.

True Location: Alcázar of Seville

Seville’s beautiful Alcázar was built in the 14th century and was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. It’s a popular tourist attraction with a number of high-end eateries — Abantal is one of two Seville restaurants with a Michelin star and offers an intricate tasting menu. On the way to the Alcázar of Seville be sure to wander through the Parque de Maria Luisa to the Plaza de España, which is a striking landmark featuring architecture from the 1920s.

How to visit: There are a number of marinas for smaller vessels along the Guadalquivir river, but the closest to the Alcázar of Seville is Club Náutico Sevilla, which hosts 150 moorings for boats with a maximum length of 36 metres.

Embark on the Ultimate ‘Game of Thrones’ Yacht Charter

  • By Yachting Staff
  • Updated: April 6, 2018

Kateryna kyslyak was traveling the Croatian coast between Dubrovnik and Split, making all the stops that charter clients can make, trying to figure out how far from each port the cast and crew from HBO’s Game of Thrones had gone to shoot iconic scenes. It took her just two weeks to find seasons two through six. “It almost looks like on TV,” says Kyslyak, whose company, Contact Yachts, is offering Game of Thrones charter itineraries this summer. “I have never seen anything better preserved than the old towns of Croatia. They wouldn’t need that many graphics or extra people; they were filming while tons of tourists were just walking around.”

Game of Thrones yacht charter

The show’s final season is scheduled to air in 2019, and excitement is high in places where the cast and crew have filmed. Those locations dovetail with popular waypoints on yacht-charter itineraries: Dubrovnik is a main filming location for King’s Landing, capital of the imaginary Seven Kingdoms in Westeros; it was in real-life Gradac Park, just outside of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, that fictional King Joffrey was poisoned during the show’s Purple Wedding; and Fort Lovrijenac is the filming location for the Red Keep (whose imposing seaside presence, in reality, has earned it the nickname “Dubrovnik’s Gibraltar”).

Crews from the HBO show ‘Game of Thrones’ film often in Croatia — at locations easy to access by charter yacht.

“Local people, they offer guided tours, and they also tell you stories about their relatives who played a sadistic part in some episode, or maybe they played a slave,” Kyslyak says. “They tell you the stories and then recommend where you can eat at a local place where the cast and the crew had dinner.”

The really good news is that Game of Thrones tchotchke shops aren’t sprouting up everywhere to mar the natural beauty. A few are around, but Kyslyak saw just one during the entire two weeks that she scouted sites. Otherwise, the spots are perfectly preserved, which is likely what attracted the show’s producers.

“The artisans, the shops, they’re doing their own thing,” she says. “They are very welcoming, and fans will definitely find their way. You don’t need to look for the locations. They’re just there.”

The stretch of Croatian coastline from Dubrovnik to Split has been popular with charter clients for a number of years now. It can include stops at locations such as Mljet, Korcula and Hvar, which offer a combination of beautiful natural backdrops for watersports fun, as well as classical architecture for sightseeing. During a seven- to 10-day charter itinerary, Kyslyak says, it’s easy to incorporate the Game of Thrones stops along with those others.

Game of Thrones yacht charter

Days can begin around 10 a.m. with breakfast aboard, and because the sun stays up late during summer, afternoons can go on as long as everyone is having fun ashore. Two days apiece in Dubrovnik and Split should do it, with everywhere in between being negotiable according to the charter client’s tastes.

Locals in Croatia will tell you about their relatives who played sadistic extras or slaves in past episodes.

For instance, with a stop at Klis Fortress near Split, Game of Thrones fans can discuss its fantasy-world namesake — the city of Meereen — while charter guests who don’t watch the show and simply want to enjoy the scenery will also have lots to do.

Game of Thrones yacht charter

“I highly recommend it,” Kyslyak says. “You see a panoramic view of the Adriatic and the whole coast. And not only that, but you also see the villages and how Croatians really live. You can just embrace all of it.”

Game of Thrones yacht charter

She offers just one warning: Don’t wait too long to book. The season seven Game of Thrones premiere drew a reported 30 million viewers last year, and with season eight expected to be the last, fans are likely to swarm come summer 2019, when it airs.

Game of Thrones yacht charter

“Here in Europe, everybody is watching it too,” she says. “A lot of my friends, when they found out I was going to the locations, they couldn’t believe it.”

Visit Croatia by superyacht to see the Game of Thrones set locations

People have said that Shakespeare’s tragedies and his penchant for killing off major characters have been the precursor to the hit television series Game of Thrones. One thing Shakespeare did not benefit from was sets of gargantuan proportions, not least UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the heart of Croatia .

Series 3 of the HBO show has just come to another dramatic conclusion and for fans who wish to delve a bit deeper and see some of the spectacular locations used in the filming, now can do so by visiting Croatia and taking advantage of some of the many tours now available.

The country is having to prepare annually for the veritable flood of Game of Thrones tourists that is not dissimilar to that which descended upon New Zealand in the advent of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and latterly, The Hobbit series. The HBO phenomenon has been gathering pace since the series started in 2011 and the Croatian tourist board has assisted the country’s entire economy with a substantial boost.

Diocletian Palace, Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, which is already a major Mediterranean vacation city and seaport, is the setting for the story’s capital of the Seven Kingdoms, King’s Landing. For those who monitor tourism and its effect on the economy are delighted. They allowed HBO to film in the city in the midst of the high season as the knock on effect in employment and revenue was worth the huge disruption.

Several  online companies have been cropping up offering Game of Thrones trips and tours of all lengths and prices. These itineraries take in some of Croatia’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites - the walled city of Dubrovnik, the Diocletian Palace and the Krka National Park. Each of these ancient sites provide the backdrops for the battles, intrigues and the oft-talked about dragons, all set on the fantasy continents of Westeros and Essos.

Dubrovnik, which is already a major Mediterranean vacation city and seaport, is the setting for the story’s capital of the Seven Kingdoms, King’s Landing

Krka National Park

Other locations across Croatia also appear in the series as fictional towns - the islands of Lokrum off the coast of Dubrovnik and Mrkan off the coast of Cavtat, the village of Mlini, the fortresses of Minceta, Bokar, Klis and Lovrijenac, the Trsteno Arboretum and the Dubac quarry.

And what better way to arrive on the trip of a lifetime than by superyacht? Croatia and most especially the Dalmatian Coast has one of the most enviable coastlines in Europe, with an array of beautiful islands to visit, not to mention crystal clear waters, picturesque harbours and medieval ports.

Croatia, Dubrovnik to Sibenik – 8 Days

Cruising along the game of thrones filming locations.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Filming Location for King’s Landing Harbor

Day 1: Visit Dubrovnik , the “Pearl of the Adriatic”. Dubrovnik was an independent, merchant republic for some 700 years and has enchanted the wealthy, the powerful, the artist, and of course, the sailor, throughout it’s remarkable history. The old town, completed in the 13th century, remains virtually unchanged. Tall ramparts surround and there are only two entrances to the old town which lead to the Stradun, the city’s promenade. In 1991, the Serbs shelled the city causing considerable damage, but thanks to local efforts and international aid, the old town has been restored to its former beauty.

Entering old town through the Pile Gate, in front of you is the Stradun. Here you will find the Onofrio Fountain, built in 1438. On the right is the Franciscan Monastery, with one of the oldest functioning pharmacies in Europe, in operation since 1391. At the other end of the Stradun, find the locals’ favorite meeting place, the Orlando Column, with the nearby Sponza Place and the baroque church of St. Blaise. Here is also the Rector’s Palace, built in 1441, which is now a city museum packed with valuable and historic exhibits. Opposite the palace through a narrow street is a square, Gunduliceva Poljana, which is the site of the busy morning market. In the same square is the Jesuit Monastery from the early 18th century. From here you can head for the little old town port and visit the city walls, built between the 13th and the 16th centuries, which encircle the city and which have been remarkably preserved.

Game of Thrones filming locations in Old Town Dubrovnik started to be seen in the second season of the Game of Thrones TV series. Dubrovnik Old Town was the main filming location for “King’s Landing”, the capital and largest city of the “Seven Kingdoms”. David Benioff, executive producer and a writer, once said that the Seven Kingdoms’ capital might be the most important location in the entire show, so the location scouting crew knew the location for King’s Landing had to look right. The minute the team started to walk about the walled city of Dubrovnik, they realized “the Pearl of the Adriatic” looked exactly as King’s Landing was described by the author. Dubrovnik’s features served also as the landmarks of Westeros, part of “The Known World” and separated from “Essos” by the “Narrow Sea”.

The Game of Thrones filming locations in Dubrovnik are in three main zones which are: the walled city, Lovrijenac Fortress, and Gradac park.

 Lovrijenac Fortress was used as the “Red Keep” in “King’s Landing”. This location allowed the crew to shoot perfect exterior shots which had proven difficult in the previous location, Malta. The bay where the fort is set also served as a place to film the largest fight in the War of the Five Kings – the Battle of Blackwater Bay.

 The fortress walls surrounding Old Town Dubrovnik including Minceta Tower served as the filming location for the Warlocks of Qarth. Other parts within Old Town Dubrovnik were used as locations for various scenes, including the Jesuit Staircase (The steps of the Great Sept of Baelor and the beginning of Cersei’s “Walk of Shame”), St. Dominic Street (used in most of the market scenes in King’s Landing), the Ethnographic Museum of Rupe (the exterior of Littlefinger’s brothel), Ploce Gate (The Red Keep Gate), and the Rector’s Palace ( the residence of the Spice King in Quarth, where Daenerys asks for ships to take her army across the Narrow Sea).

 Gradac park was used as the place where the Purple Wedding reception took place, a very significant event in the fourth season. It is during that Royal Wedding Carnival that King Joffrey was poisoned.

 Game of Thrones isn’t the only fantasy which was filmed in Dubrovnik. Last year the old town hosted the crew of Lucas film and Rian Johnson who shot scenes for Star Wars Episode VIII. At the beginning of this year “the Pearl of the Adriatic” also welcomed the production team of “Robin Hood: Origins”. The Minceta Tower in the walls of Old Town Dubrovnik as used as the Haunting spot in the “House of the Undying.”

Just off Old Town Dubrovnik is the island of Lokrum which can be visited by ship’s tender. Lokrum was the setting in the botanical gardens, and the ruins of the Benedictine Monastery for Qarth, “the greatest city that ever was or will be”. One of the major scenes shot on Lokrum is the welcoming party of Daenerys by Xaro Xhoan Daxos.

Trsteno Arboretum, Croatia

Trsteno Arboretum

Day 2: Cruise north from Dubrovnik and stop for lunch at Trsteno right on the coast. Within the village of Trsteno, is the Trsteno Arboretum, is one of the oldest and most beautiful arboretums in the region. Built in the 15th century, the grounds of the Arboretum were used for both the King’s Landing’s gardens, particularly for scenes including the Tyrell Family, in Seasons Three and Four. All the scenes where major characters shared their secrets and plotted their next move, surrounded by lush greenery, were filmed here. Built by a shipping merchant, the soil and garden plantings were brought from all corners of the world, as once cargo was discharged, the shipping merchant had ships filled with soil and garden plantings, for this Arboretum.

Cruise in the afternoon to Ston on Ston Bay. Behind Ston, which is known for the salt ponds, is a very long defensive wall dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries, and is the second longest fortified wall in the world. The wall appeared in the series starting in Season Two. Take a walk around the tiny village of Ston, visit the what was once the salt works and return to the yacht to cruise past many shell farms to Mali Ston to anchor in front of Bota Sare Restaurant. Many feel that the brackish water in Ston Bay, as fed by the fresh water Ston River, is perfect for growing oysters and mussels. Bote Sare Restaurant, built into the remains of an old castle, serves oysters and mussels plucked fresh from their own shell farm, along with fresh bread baked in a wood fired oven, home grown vegetables, olive oil pressed from their olives, and honey produced by their bees, for a true Farm to Table experience of fresh seafood. There are also non-seafood items on the menu, which is filled with traditional Croatian dishes.

A ruin in Polace on Mljet in Croatia

Polace, Croatia

Day 3: Cruise along the Peninsula Peljesa to the very green island of Mljet, 95% of which is a National Park. Cruise up a long fjord on the island to the little town of Polace, so called for the ruins of a Roman palace (polace) which cut right through town. This is a lovely anchorage, with a little town rimmed with fish tavernas, and is a favorite of yachtsmen. Ashore Restaurant Ankora creates a black squid ink risotto, which is virtually a Croatian national dish and Restaurant Ankora is felt to create one of the best versions of this dish in Croatia. Because the waters surrounding Mljet are mainly a national park, the waters are full of fish, shellfish, and squid which are daily fished by locals for great seafood meals. Look at the back docks of the various shore side tavernas, each of which have a small cage suspended under the dock harboring lobster, fish and mussels to be plucked right out of the water and into the pan for dinner. Have the Captain call to be sure that Restaurant Ankora is making their famous risotto and head ashore for a great dinner. Overnight.

In the afternoon, the area surrounding Polace is filled with hiking and bicycle trails. Bicycles are available for rent as well in Polace. Enjoy cycling or head out hiking on one of the trails or National Park roads, for located within Mljet National Park are two lakes, Veliko and Malo Jezero (Large and Small Lake) with buildings from the old Benedictine Monastery on Islet Melita in the middle. These lakes once were fresh water and are now salt water. It was the Benedictine Monks that changed the very nature of the lake waters that surrounded them, by building a canal from the lakes out into the sea. This changed the lake fresh water to salt water forever. Today the monastery building is a café restaurant, and you can explore the various buildings and hike around the little island. The island can be accessed either by National Park boats after hiking or riding to the little quay over the hill from Polace, or by moving the yacht around to the opening of the lakes to explore the lakes in the ships tender, and enjoy water toys such as sea kayaks.

Korcula Old Town Walls from the Sea

Day 4: After breakfast, cruise to Korcula Old Town to explore this traditional medieval walled city, which is one of the largest medieval walled cities still in existence today. The whole of Korcula Old Town is surrounded by 14th century medieval thick stone walls including towers that were used for defense of the town during past centuries. The inside of the walled area, which was built on an oval shaped raised area of ground was built with a main road along the highest area of the ground with small roads off on either side, so that the interior area outlay of roads is often referred to as a fish skeleton. This layout of the town in a somewhat herringbone pattern allowed free air circulation but protected all inside from the strong local winds. The interior streets are all walking streets and are all stepped, which further retains the Old Town for pedestrian traffic only. Inside the Old Town are shops, restaurants, cafes and a museum in the house considered to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Indeed, both Marco and Polo are common first and surnames in this area. Be sure to walk inside the Old Town as well as around the outside to see the old fortifications and towers, perhaps stopping in the little café in one of the towers where drinks are hauled up to the top by rope.

Just off the coast of the island of Korcula, part of the Korcula Archipelago and the resort island for the inhabitants of Korcula, is the island of Vrnik, which offers great secluded swimming locations with beautiful clear blue water, and on land, there are many deep stone quarries dating back to Roman times. Overnight in a lovely anchorage on Vrnik.

Hvar Island Town, Croatia

Hvar Island Town, Croatia

Day 5: Cruise to the island of Hvar. Sitting in a strategic trading location, Hvar has been a natural stop for seafarers throughout seafaring history, with each civilization leaving a mark on the face of this island reflected in many of the historic buildings and ruins remaining. Cruise into Hvar Town on the island of Hvar, once home to a major naval base belonging to the Venetian Empire. Dominating the skyline and overlooking the town are remains of an extensive castle. A tour guide can be arranged for several hours for a tour of Hvar Town, or you can wander through town on your own, hiking up to the castle for a great view of the surrounding area. The island of Hvar has long been settled and is very fertile with fields of lavender and grapes, along with fruit and nut orchards. Lavender tussie mussies are readily available at little stands for purchase, and lavender honey is a great treat from this island to try on top of a local cheese. Hvar is known for wine production, producing several labels of distinction.

Hvar is also known as the cosmopolitan spot of Croatia, where the European jet setters congregate for nightlife especially at Hula, Carpe Diem and Carpe Diem Beach. Hvar center is marked by upscale shops, however if a quiet night is of interest, visit Hvar town during the day and head out to a quiet anchorage around the island for a lovely dinner on board under the stars.

Diocletians palace, Croatia

Diocletian’s Palace

Day 6: Head to Split to see Diocletian’s Palace, also a Game of Thrones filming location. Built at the turn of the 4th century AD, approximately 1600 years ago, by the Emperor Diocletian as a retirement palace, the location is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Diocletian designed this palace to be located along the crystal-clear waters of what is now the Croatian coastline as a lovely seaside home far from civilization. The town of Split grew up within and around the palace walls, as this was a structure built originally for 9000 inhabitants. Over the centuries, locals continued to create their homes within the palace walls and now today there are still homes and shops that are anchored into the structure and there to stay. Now, the Palace of Diocletian is in the literal center of the town of Split, with one side along the sea. The other three sides remaining were built as heavily fortressed walls. The ruins are one of the most complete remains of a Roman Palace in existence. The Palace was built with several different levels, including a subterranean level with fully vaulted ceilings. The seaside façade, which was the main residence of the Emperor, retains the feeling of a villa, while the rest suggests a military camp. After the Romans abandoned the structure the locals remaining moved into the fortified walls for protection, thus establishing the long history retained today of a living ruin, still alive with homes shops, bustling with day to day life.

During the many years after the Romans abandoned the palace and today, Christianity made its mark with a church built in the interior of the palace ruins, along with a bell tower, crypt, and a side chapel built into the ruins of a temple. Filming of some episodes from season 4, 5 and 6 took part here, mostly in the catacombs of the palace, where Daenarys had her throne room. It is here in the underground tunnels where she trained her dragons.

Enjoy lunch in Split and after it is a 20 minute drive in a luxury van into the mountains behind Split to Klis, to see Klis Fortress, perched on top of a mountain with a panoramix view across the entire valley, the islands and Split itself. With a history spanning 2000 years, this fort is too well preserved to be called a “ruin”. Klis Fortress was used as a Game of Thrones filming location for the city of Meereen during Season 4, as the location in which Daenerys was to seize the city and free slaves. In the afternoon cruise to Trogir.

Trogir Fortress Walls

Trogir Fortress Walls

Day 7: Once in Trogir, you should explore the city in daylight, and perhaps visit the open market on the other side of the island on the mainland; easily recognized by the many little tents set up next to the bridge. If you would like, a tour guide can be arranged, or you can explore on your own, but be sure to look for the following:

  • The core of the ancient city inside the walls with about 10 churches and many other buildings from 13th century
  • The 13th century Duke’s Palace The 13th century Cathedral of St. Lawrence featuring the Portal by Master Radovan considered a masterpiece by created by this Croatian artist
  • Both 15th century big and small palaces Cipiko
  • The 15th century city loggia
  • The 15th century Fortress Kamerlengo
  • The 17th century city gate and the 15th century city walls

Nearby the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, you may be treated to a group of Klapa Singers that gather quite often in this location to sing Croatian folksongs.

Also, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Old Town of Trogir is located on a small island, connected to the mainland via a bridge with a protected harbor. First established by the Greeks in the 3rd century BC, Trogir has had continuous urban settlement for the last 2300 years. Trogir is considered one of the best examples of a Romanesque-Gothic Medieval walled city still in existence in Central Europe. Before dinner on board, take a stroll through Trogir along streets originally laid out in the Hellenistic time period. After dinner are several ice cream shops on the quay and other cafes to enjoy, or sit on the aft deck of your yacht to watch the world go by.

Sibenik Cathedral, Croatia

Sibenik Cathedral

Day 8: In the morning, leave early to cruise to Sibenik. The medieval cathedral of Sibenik, the Cathedral of St. James. perched overlooking the harbor, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sibenik was used as a filming location during the fifth season of the show, as the location for one of Westeros’ Free Cities, Braavos. Filming took place in the Square of the Republic of Croatia anchored on one side by the Cathedral of St. James, a beautiful example of Gothic and Renaissance architecture styles, damaged from bombings in the recent war, and now repaired. Here also is the famous House of Black and White.

In the afternoon cruise to anchor in Zadar, and join a National Park boat to cruise up the Krka River to Krka Falls National Park. In this park various landscapes were used for the Seven Kingdoms in Season Four. Hike around the Falls, on the walking trail, and visit the little re-created village showing life in the late 1800’s in this area of Croatia, featuring a Blacksmith, Weaver, and “clothes washing machines” harnessing the power of the falls.

Exploring Game of Thrones Set Locations on a Yacht Charter in Croatia

Bahar

s fan or just curious about the iconic locations? Either way, Croatia's GOT set locations are a must-visit. And there's no better way to see them than on a yacht charter in Croatia.

You should sail through Croatia's breathtaking waters, where Game of Thrones scenes were filmed. In this country fantasy meets reality and visitors enjoy stepping into a fantasy world and then back to reality, all in one trip.

Throughout its eight seasons, Game of Thrones transported viewers to a world of intrigue, betrayal, and epic battles, with Croatia's stunning landscapes playing a starring role. One of the most iconic Game of Thrones locations in Croatia is Dubrovnik, known in the series as King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms. As you approach the city from the sea, its imposing walls and red-roofed buildings create an unmistakable silhouette against the Adriatic backdrop. Walking through the narrow streets of the Old Town, you'll find yourself retracing the footsteps of the beloved characters.

Beyond Dubrovnik, a yacht charter offers the opportunity to explore other Game of Thrones filming locations along the Croatian coast. The island of Lokrum, just a short boat ride from Dubrovnik, served as the setting for the lush gardens of Qarth, while the historic city of Split took place as the ancient city of Meereen. On the island of Vis, you can also visit the charming fishing village of Komiža, which stood in for the island of Braavos in the series.

Best game of thrones locations-yacht charter-mediterranean

Croatia and Malta have become tourist hotspots in recent years, and a part of it is thanks to their links to Game of Thrones.

If you are a fan of the serie, summer is the best time to plan a trip around the Mediterranean and to see some of these great filming locations. Dubrovnik, Split and some other surrounding towns and sites have transformed into key sites in the GOT universe in Croatia. And the best news? Many of these places are also great yachting destinations!

Here are the main ones.

Game of Thrones locations in Croatia

The centre of dubrovnik: the most recognisable place from game of thrones.

Game_of_Thrones-Dubrovnik-Rector s_Palace

This foreboding, fortified city will be immediately recognisable to fans of the show. The ancient walled city is perfect for capturing the feel of King’s Landing, which is why production moved here from season 2.

It all starts at the Pile Gate at the entrance to the city, where Sansa plans her escape. There are lots of winding streets and areas where you will stop in your tracks and recall scenes. This includes the white marble main street of Stradun. Meanwhile, if you want to follow in the footsteps of Cersei Lannister’s infamous walk of shame, head over to Rue Saint Dominique.

Gradac Park: an important place in Game of Thrones serie

game of thrones yacht

On the surface, this park looks like a perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery in the outskirts of Dubrovnik . Many locals will come to do so regularly. However, there is a darker side to this pine reserve – or a more exciting one, depending on your views of King Joffrey. This is the location of the Violet Wedding where the young king is poisoned.

Split: Game of Thrones is a perfect excuse to visit this beautiful costal city

Split-Croatia yacht charter

You can also take a chartered yacht out to the city of Split . Your location of choice for a GOT tour may depend on your personal allegiance in the series. If you side with the mother of dragons, you may be more interested in heading here because of the city’s role in her story. The Diocletian Palace is a massive Roman ruin with breathtaking catacombs that are the perfect place to raise some dragons. There is also a throne room and other important sites where the hopeful ruler built her army and increased her power.

Game of Thrones locations in Malta

Valetta: some parts of the city might look familiar to game of thrones fans.

Game of thrones locations-valetta-malta

There aren’t so many locations and scenes to recreate in Malta.

The show was relocated after the first season – possibly due to conflicts over some of their scene and the use of the locations. If you started your vacation in Croatia, don’t be surprised if you get deja vu in Malta’s capital. This was King’s Landing first. The city’s Fort Ricasoli was also the Red Keep for this season. There is also the infamous King’s Landing gate, which is often best viewed from a boat.

Gozo: a Game of Thrones location that never fails to impress on a yacht

Azure_Window-Malta-game of thrones

Some fans may say that the Azure Window in Gozo isn’t as impressive compared to the King’s Landing sets. However, if you have a yacht charter for the week, you may as well make good use of it. Sail over to the sister island to find one of the important sites in the life of Daenerys. This is where they filmed the wedding scene. It is a great place to drop anchor and enjoy Malta’s climate.

Enjoy a Game of Thrones tour of Croatia or Malta with a chartered yacht.

One of the best ways to see all of these great locations in one vacation is to charter a yacht. A skilled crew can take you around the coast from Dubrovnik to Split and detour to lots of different locations You can island hop between Malta and Gozo as you choose. You can spend as long as you like exploring the sites to see the Game of Throne scenes in a new light. Follow in the footsteps of your favourite characters while enjoying a much more luxurious and less dangerous lifestyle.

You will read about a fantastic journey along Croatian coast that we did ahead of the summer season to see where several seasons of HBO’s Game of Thrones were filmed and to build a unique yacht charter itinerary for our clients.

We suggest that you follow the steps of the filming crew while chartering a gulet or a motor yacht, perhaps a catamaran or something truly special - a sailing yacht "REGINA" . She, herself is a movie icon. The 183-foot luxury schooner, “Regina” stole a piece of limelight from Hollywood stars, Daniel Craig and Bérénice Marlohe in the James Bond film “Skyfall” . The filming of the passage to the villian’s island lair took place off the coast of Turkey, with “Regina” renamed “Chimera”. After the movie’s release, everyone in the industry started to name her, “the James Bond yacht”.

Enjoy the reading of the article. And yes, here is an online version of it.

The Epic Game Of Thrones Scene Bruce Willis Reportedly Tried To Ruin

Pedro Pescal as Oberyn Martell and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Gregor Clegane on Game of Thrones

It may feel like an eternity ago now, but at this time in 2019, Game of Thrones was the undisputed king of television. Never before had a fantasy series received so much mainstream attention, nor achieved such massive popularity, from viewers across the globe. However, following a controversial series' finale that left the majority of fans justifiably upset, the program once hailed as one of the greatest of all time has gracelessly fallen off the map in short order. Nevertheless, looking back, there's a lot to appreciate about Game of Thrones,  and the effort that went into making it such a smash hit to begin with.

A common point of praise for the HBO original was its stunning visuals that made Westeros come to life on a grand scale. Locations like King's Landing and the Wall were breathtaking because of the attention to detail those putting GoT together maintained. The aesthetic of the show, while incredible, did require a fair amount of CGI  and set construction to pull off, so your potential Westeros sightseeing tour will be sadly incomplete. That said, there are still many areas from  Game of Thrones  you could visit with just a car or a plane ticket .

One such vacation destination is the city of Dubrovnik, located in the nation of Croatia just off of the Adriatic Sea. The region hosted the iconic season 4 fight between Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) and Oberyn Martell ( Pedro Pascal ) at the abandoned Hotel Belvedere, located along the coastline. The sea provided a beautiful backdrop to their otherwise brutal battle ... and nearly contained a cameo from an angry, yacht-driving Bruce Willis — yes, the Bruce Willis of  Die Hard and The Fifth Element  fame.

Bruce Willis' 'yacht rage' got the best of him

Actor Bruce Willis

Per SyFy Wire , this tale comes straight from James Hibberd's new book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series .

Since Game of Thrones is set in the distant past, it wouldn't make much sense for modern boats to occupy the sea, no matter how far off in the background they are. The episode's director, Alex Graves, explained, "When we scouted the amphitheater, there were all these yachts out front, so we needed to make a deal to make sure the yachts weren't there when we filmed. They all backed off a quarter-mile so they wouldn't be in the shot. Everyone agreed to do it — except one person."

According to Graves, and a handful of other people working on GoT at the time, that individual was none other than Bruce Willis. Accounts from those in attendance that day recall the actor's yacht circling the amphitheater where they were filming — as if to say, as Graves put it, "F*** you, I'm in your shot."

However, Willis' "yacht rage"-induced efforts were in vain. Graves noted, "We were all laughing because we were aimed away from the water at that time anyway," so Willis ultimately just made a fool of himself.

Though many remember it as Willis' boat frustratedly attempting to mess up one of Game of Thrones ' most talked-about duels, others recollect the day quite differently. Executive producer Bernadette Caulfield stated, "I think that's been blown up a little bit more than it probably really was. We never actually saw Bruce."

Even still, if the story is true, it'll just be another addition to the long list of fun, emotional, and downright odd stories to come from the prank-filled  Game of Thrones set.

Feadship Lonian Superyacht

It’s not easy to keep a 285-foot superyacht under wraps for a whole year, but Feadship has managed to do exactly that. The Dutch yard has kept showstopper Lonian hidden since her launch in 2019, but now it’s finally ready to show her off.

The vessel was kept secret at the request of the owners, who wanted to enjoy a full year of private cruising without any publicity. That feat was relatively easy to achieve since the superyacht is packed with everything you could ever want or need, and has been specifically designed for life at sea.

In fact, Lonian spends little time moored in marinas and instead cruises the world with a “flotilla” of toys and tenders, plus a 217-foot support vessel that carries additional equipment and a crew of 22.

Feadship Lonian Superyacht

With exteriors penned by Sinot , Lonian sports a deep blue hull and dramatic bow, and is surprisingly slimline given her size. She features extensive glass and stainless steel for a decidedly modern feel.

“She has the presence and stance of a beefy motoryacht while retaining an elegant and slender air,” the yard said.

But let’s talk about life onboard. Her knockout feature is an utterly unique glass swimming pool located aft. It has a translucent bottom that doubles as the ceiling of the beach club below and a built-in movie screen integrated into the edge of the pool, because why not?

Feadship Lonian Superyacht

The pool  Clint Jenkins

Not to be outdone, her automated swim platform on the transom hatch opens and closes like the roof of a convertible car. The teak hatch opens first, and the aft door descends before the hatch closes again, leaving no visible sign of a threshold or door.

Elsewhere, the expansive foredeck on the owner’s deck has a jacuzzi with bespoke cooling and heating functionality. This was specifically requested by the exacting owners, who like relaxing in the chilled plunge pool after a sweat sesh at the bridge deck gym.

Feadship Lonian Superyacht

Lonian features 22 different openings—platforms, hatches and doors—which creates a seamless outdoor-indoor flow and allows guests to easily access the surrounding waters. If further exploration is required, there’s also an Airbus ACH145 helicopter on board.

The interiors, penned by Sinot and Richard Hallberg Interior Design , remain private, but Feadship did reveal there is a glass elevator to serve all five decks and an epic lounge with full-beam panoramic views. The vessel can sleep a total of 14 guests across seven cabins, including an owner’s stateroom, four generous guest staterooms and two VIP suites. There are also 15 crew cabins and one captain’s cabin.

Ros is a prostitute in the brothel in Winterfell 's outlying town . She has drawn the attention of the young nobles of Winterfell, including Theon Greyjoy who is a regular customer. Jon Snow once paid Ros for her time but explains he did not have sex with her because of a pang of conscience over the possibility of fathering a child who would be illegitimate like himself as illegitimacy is not an easy life. [citation needed]

Ros says that she grew up in the town outside the walls of Winterfell and remembers the day Sansa Stark was born and all the bells of the castle were rung in celebration. [1] It is mentioned that she is a cook's daughter. [citation needed] Uncommonly for most prostitutes, Ros is literate. [2]

Game of Thrones : Season 1

Ros on top of Tyrion

Ros and Tyrion are interrupted by Jaime.

Ros is shown entertaining Tyrion Lannister shortly after his arrival at Winterfell. She informs Tyrion that the whorehouse was especially alerted to his imminent arrival, though by whom is not revealed. The two of them are interrupted by Tyrion's brother, Jaime, who tells Tyrion, a man of limited height but with immense appetites, that he will be needed at the feast that night. Jaime has hired three more prostitutes for Tyrion, to hurry things along. [3]

When Tyrion is returning from the Wall, he stops at Winterfell. Believing the Lannisters are responsible for Bran's fall, Robb denies him Winterfell's hospitality. Tyrion decides to stay in a brothel and as he is leaving, Theon Greyjoy recommends Ros to Tyrion, unaware that Tyrion is already acquainted with her. Tyrion promises "not to wear her out." At Castle Black , Jon Snow and his friend Samwell Tarly talk about having never been with a woman. Jon says that he once had the opportunity to have sex with Ros. He describes her to Sam as young and gorgeous. Jon ultimately declined to have sex with Ros fearing he might father bastard children of his own, as being a bastard himself he would have nothing to offer them. [4]

Theon sneaks Ros into his chambers, where they both undress and have sex. He notices that she is wearing a Lannister lion pendant and she tells him that it was a gift from Tyrion. Theon becomes angry when she insinuates that Tyrion is a superior lover and that his family's honor is suspect due to the failed Greyjoy Rebellion . When he refuses to pay for the encounter, Ros suggests that he gets a wife instead, infuriating Theon further. [5] However, Theon's anger with Ros does not last, and is surprised to see her sitting in the back of a turnip cart. She tells him she has decided to leave the winter town to seek out employment in King's Landing and is planning to board a boat out of White Harbor . [6]

Ros

Ros travels to King's Landing.

He unsuccessfully tries to persuade her to stay, but she points out that, with war coming, all the men will be marching away and there is nothing for her here, while sarcastically asking Theon if he would be willing to marry her and make her Lady of the Iron Islands if she stayed. Though Theon denies it, his face implies that he has grown to love her. Theon throws her a coin, and she laughs and lifts up her skirt one last time. Theon calls out that he'll miss her, and she agrees that he will. [6]

Arriving in King's Landing, Ros finds employment at a brothel owned by Littlefinger . He tutors her and another prostitute, Armeca , in the art of seduction. Ros learns that Littlefinger is infatuated with a woman who was betrothed to a man who injured him in a duel, and this woman later married the man's brother . However, it does not appear that she recognizes the woman in the story as Lady Catelyn Stark . [7]

Ros and Pycelle

Ros is bored by Pycelle's ramblings.

Ros's services are employed by Grand Maester Pycelle in King's Landing. As she gathers her clothes to leave, Pycelle begins to tell her about all the kings he has served (including Aerys II Targaryen , Robert I Baratheon ) and blesses the reign of the present monarch, Joffrey I Baratheon . Eventually, his ramblings fade and she becomes impatient, questioning him about the original point of his speech. She leaves, frustrated, rebuffing his offer to escort her. [8]

Game of Thrones : Season 2

Ros and Daisy 201

Ros introduces Daisy to King's Landing prostitution.

Ros watches two new prostitutes in Petyr Baelish 's brothel practicing their work. She repeats Petyr’s advice to ease into the act slowly and with passion. She tells the new employees to wash and dress for work that night before walking away. She is followed by Daisy , who she instructs in the merits of their upmarket brothel. Ros greets Lord Orson who is passing with a young man as she tells Daisy that they cater to a higher class of customer than she was used to in Haystack Hall . Daisy watches Armeca leading a client away. Ros notes that Armeca pretends not to speak the Common tongue in order to seem exotic and reveals that she actually grew up in Flea Bottom . Daisy says that Armeca is beautiful, but Ros is dismissive of her colleague. Suddenly, Lord Commander Janos Slynt enters with several of his men. Ros greets him with familiarity. More Gold Cloaks enter with a bloodied prisoner and Janos snaps his fingers at his men who begin to search the brothel. Ros reminds him that Petyr is the establishment's owner and Janos cites orders. [9]

Ros wonders who the orders came from and Janos tells her only that they are from someone who doesn’t care what Petyr thinks. Mhaegen is dragged into the room, holding her baby girl Barra who is one of Robert’s bastards. Janos looks at his prisoner who nods recognition. Janos then signals one of his men who takes the baby from her sobbing mother, draws his knife and hesitates. Janos tells his man to kill the baby and then does it himself when his subordinate cannot. Ros and Mhaegen are distraught. [9]

Ros is still visibly upset about the death of Barra . She is so distressed that she falls apart in front of a client. Lord Petyr Baelish comes into her room and Ros confides in him. However, Baelish compares her to a beautiful girl he purchased from a Lyseni pleasure house for an exorbitant price. The girl was so sad Baelish gained no money from her and he sold her to a Lord who wanted to "transform" her, a man who derived pleasure from things most men would find unthinkable. After this lesson, when he asks Ros if one day off will make her smile again, Ros smiles and assures him it will. [10]

Tyrion Lannister , acting on a suggestion from his enforcer Bronn , hires Ros and Daisy as a late nameday present for his nephew King Joffrey Baratheon . Tyrion hopes this will give the sadistic Joffrey an opportunity to release his frustrations away from Sansa. They wait for him in his chamber, guarded by Sandor Clegane . When Joffrey arrives, Ros wishes him a happy nameday and then reaches for his crotch. He flinches and instructs Ros to touch Daisy. He asks if Ros can hit Daisy and she spanks Daisy gently. Joffrey asks if Tyrion sent them and Ros says that Tyrion chose them himself. [11]

RosAndJoffrey

Joffrey threatens Ros.

Joffrey takes off his belt and gives it to Ros to use. He forces Ros to hit Daisy hard enough to make her scream, grabbing her by the throat when she merely spanks her colleague. Joffrey hands Ros a stag’s head scepter and she protests that too much pain will spoil the pleasure. He loads his crossbow as Ros warns him that his uncle might find out. He tells Ros that he wants Tyrion to find out and orders her to take Daisy to Tyrion’s chambers to show him what has happened or she will also be beaten. He aims the crossbow at Ros and orders her to begin, as Daisy screams. [11]

Ros is captured by Queen Regent Cersei Lannister , who mistakenly believes that she is Tyrion's lover (as a result of the Lannister pendant Tyrion gave Ros during their liaison in Winterfell). She has Ros beaten and kept prisoner. She plans to use her captivity to force Tyrion into keeping Joffrey safe, believing that Tyrion is plotting to kill him. [12]

Ros1

Ros's captivity is revealed.

When Cersei says that she has his whore, Tyrion - thinking she has the dark-haired Shae - remarks that he thought she preferred blondes, but it is red-haired Ros that she has brought in and displayed beaten to him. Cersei explains that she will kill her in the most gruesome way, if harm comes to Joffrey while he mans the city walls, as Tyrion plans. Tyrion plays along to maintain the secret that Shae is his true lover; Ros does the same. Tyrion vows to free Ros and she begs him not to forget her. [12]

Ros and Varys 2x10

Varys recruits Ros.

Some time after the Battle of Blackwater Bay, Ros was freed. She is visited by Varys , though she doesn't realize who he is until she discovers his eunuch status. Varys gets Ros to admit she's afraid of Littlefinger, and tells her that unlike her current employer, he protects those who work for him. [13]

Game of Thrones : Season 3

Ros 7

Ros warns Shae of Petyr's familiarity with Sansa.

Ros accompanies Littlefinger to the docks, where he has a quiet word with Sansa Stark . Left alone with Shae, Ros explains that she helps Littlefinger manage his affairs. She also tells Shae of the day Sansa was born, when all the bells in Winterfell were rung in celebration. Ros asks Shae to watch out for Sansa. When the Lorathi responds that she always does, Ros clarifies that she is referring specifically to Baelish. [2]

Ros 8

Ros flirts with Podrick.

Following Tyrion's appointment as the new Master of Coin, Ros assists him and Littlefinger in retrieving the Iron Throne's financial records from their hiding place under the floor of the brothel's office. Ros titillates Podrick Payne during the exchange, apparently for her own amusement. [14] Ros is revealed to be meeting regularly with Varys to report on Littlefinger. She updates a slightly incredulous Varys on Podrick's apparently prodigious sexual skills, which she has had trouble verifying as the usually descriptive prostitutes he slept with seem to have been rendered speechless. [15]

Ros 9

Ros reports back to Varys on Littlefinger's movements.

When Varys asks how Littlefinger reacted, Ros says he didn't even notice and expresses concern about his plans for Lady Sansa. She presents Varys with a shipping manifest for Littlefinger's upcoming journey to the Vale. Surprising the Spider with the revelation that she is literate, Ros points out that Littlefinger has requisitioned two feather beds for his cabin - he is planning on taking someone important with him: Sansa. [15]

Ros murdered S3E6

Joffrey kills Ros.

When Littlefinger finds out she is spying on him for Varys, he gives her to King Joffrey , who wanted to try something "new and daring". Joffrey uses Ros as a live target, brutally killing her by having her tied to his bed and shooting her multiple times with a crossbow, his first personal kill. [16]

Relationships

  • Petyr Baelish (employer)
  • Varys (informer)

Clients Some of the highest lords and not-so-high lords in Westeros have been customers of Ros, including:

  • Tyrion Lannister (regular client)
  • Theon Greyjoy (regular client)
  • Jon Snow (declined)
  • Grand Maester Pycelle (regular client)
  • King Joffrey Baratheon (Used her for nothing more than tormenting)

In the books

There is no character named Ros in the A Song of Ice and Fire novels. She is the first character created specifically for the show. However, some fans have speculated that her role is based on the "red-headed whore" who appears very briefly in the first novel. This is strengthened by the fact that Bianco was originally announced as playing "Red-Headed Whore". She was originally only supposed to appear in the first episode at Winterfell when Tyrion visits the local brothel. According to the episode's Blu-ray commentary, the producers were impressed with Bianco's performance, particularly that even though the shooting location was freezing cold at the time of her nude scene, she acted through it and gave no hint of discomfort due to the temperature in her performance. Ros' role grew as Season 1 went through production, and as it became a recurring role, author George R.R. Martin suggested that her character should be given a name.

When asked (during Season 3) about how the writers decide to make new scenes that have no counterpart in the books, particularly with regard to Ros, writer Bryan Cogman said:

Loosely speaking, Ros may act as a condensation of several different prostitute characters who exist in the books. For example, in the books, Cersei does imprison a prostitute that she thinks is Tyrion's lover (although his actual lover is Shae), but this is a different character named Alayaya, the daughter of Chataya who is the woman who owns the whorehouse. The entire subplot involving these prostitute characters was cut from the TV series, and Ros functionally assumes this role in the story. As Bryan Cogman himself noted:

Martin has stated that he intends to write the character into upcoming books, though in what capacity he has not specified.

Arya Stark was born between Sansa and Bran, making her either 11 or 12 in Season 1. The rest of the Stark children have been aged up by 2 years from their book ages, so it can be assumed that she is 11 in Season 1. Arya is 18 in Season 8 according to HBO , which means at least 7 years occur in the span of the series; therefore, each season of Game of Thrones must roughly correspond to a year in-universe, placing the events of Season 3 in 300 AC.
