Yankton Riverboat Days festival to offer full weekend of events & entertainment
YANKTON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Yankton Riverboat Days and Summer Arts Festival held in Riverside Park and around Yankton is happening this weekend.
Rose Hauger, the executive director of Yankton Area Arts, visited to share all that’s in store for Riverboat Days — from food to live music to art vendors.
The festival runs Aug. 16-18. You can find details like the entertainment lineup and a schedule of events here: riverboatdays.com/ .

Yankton celebrates the ‘Mighty Meridian’ with its 41st annual Riverboat Days and Summer Arts Festival
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Yankton brought the community together once again for the 41st annual Riverboat Days and Summer Arts Festival.
This year’s theme is the Mighty Meridian, for the Meridian Pedestrian Bridge to celebrate its 100th year anniversary coming up this October.
From Friday through Sunday the festival has gathered around 120 art vendors, 40 food vendors and dozens of children’s activities.
Hundreds gathered over to Riverside Park for a full list of free events including a Tractor show, put on by the Tri State Old Iron Association, chainsaw sculpture and so much more for everyone to enjoy.
“If it wasn’t for the community, we wouldn’t be able to pull this off, this event,” said Kellie Holmstrom, 2024 Yankton’s Riverboat Days Belle. “There’s 13 board members, but we rely on the whole community, whether it’s money, services, donating items for us to use to get everything set up, it takes everybody in the community really.”
Michele Termansen, Co-Chair of Riverboat days says since the start of the festival in 1984, the crowd has grown to up to 100 thousand people in attendance. Most excited for the multiple live music artists at the venue... including ‘Diamante’ and ‘LIT,’ who will be hitting the main stage Saturday night at 9 p.m.
“It’s always so much fun to hear that load music and see the crowd in the parking lot up there and everybody has a great time,” said Termansen.
The festival will continue throughout Saturday night through Sunday afternoon with even more awesome festivities. For more information on what’s to come click this link.

Harvest Halloween FestivalDowntown Yankton comes alive with creepy, silly, and adorable characters during the Harvest Halloween Festival. Although attractions vary from year to year, you can always plan to Trick-or-Treat at our welcoming Meridian District businesses!  Holiday Festival of LightsDecember 5 , 2024 It may be cold on the Thursday after Thanksgiving, but this annual event will warm your heart.
