Perini Navi’s 53.8m Parsifal III listed for sale

The ketch sailing yacht has been listed for sale with alex lees-buckley of camper & nicholsons & perini navi usa for €20.5 million….

Parsifal III , the 53.8m ketch sailing yacht, has been listed for sale with Alex Lees-Buckley of Camper & Nicholsons and Perini Navi USA. She is currently lying in Palma and will be near Monaco prior to the Monaco Yacht Show, and at anchor during it. Her asking price is €20.5 million.

“Her volume and luxury interior offers a lot more than most sailing yachts in this marketplace”, began Alex Lees-Buckley of Camper & Nicholsons. “She has an excellent pedigree, she is very fast, she is very light, she has a carbon rig and a single engine. She’s had great successes at the St. Barths Bucket and the Perini Cup; every race she’s entered, she has either won or done exceptionally well in."

Parisfal III was launched at the Italian sailing yacht specialist’s facility in Viareggio in 2005 and was custom-built for discerning owners. She has a striking jet black hull, featuring the collaborative exterior work of Ron Holland and the yard.

“The main deck is unique in that you have a 360-degree view, because you can open up the panelling next to the wheelhouse. Additionally, if you stand in the salon, you can see forward, aft, and out both sides”, he continued. 

The classy Redman Whiteley Dixon-styled interior has accommodation for up to 14 guests in six en-suite cabins (four doubles and two twins with Pullmans). The owner’s suite can be split into two fully independent en-suite doubles and has direct access to the swimming platform via the lazarette. 

“Most sailing yachts this size can only accommodate 10 – 12 guests. Splitting the master stateroom into two is something we did for charter purposes and it has definitely helped her to be more in demand on the charter market than other large sailing yachts”, Lees-Buckley continued.

He says that the bounce-back of the sailing yacht re-sale market this year is “inexplicable” and “baffling”. There were fifteen 30m+ sailing yacht re-sales in the first half of 2016 and five in the same time period in 2015.

“The marketplace for big sailing yachts is so unpredictable and it only takes two or three sales to really make a difference. It is a market that should only be analysed in three-year cycles rather than on an annual basis”, he pointed out.

In 2016 to-date, only two 50m+ second-hand sailing yachts have been sold: 51.7m Mondango 2 and 57.5m Twizzle . Camper & Nicholsons found the buyers for both.

Guest Accommodation

Families will particularly love Parsifal III thanks to her child-friendly setup. Built in 2005, She offers guest accommodation for up to 12 guests with a layout comprising a master suite, two double cabins and two twin cabins. Parsifal III is built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by 1 x Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots with a range of up to 3,400 nautical miles from her 46,200 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots.

Parsifal III knows a thing or two about fun on the water, with a selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to enjoy whilst on charter. Principle among these are two Open Bic sailboats to bring out the explorer in you. Take to the sea on a Jet Ski offering you power and control on the water. Guests can experience the thrill and adventure of riding a SeaDoo RXP WaveRunner. If that isn't enough Parsifal III also features towable toys, waterskis, a seabob and wakeboards. Parsifal III features two tenders, but leading the pack is a 7.01m/23' Tender to transport you in style.

The magnificent interior design is highlighted with her blend of dark ebony woodwork, light sycamore, stainless steel and fine leather. She features exquisite design and craftsmanship which creates an ultra modern and stylish yet warm, inviting and relaxed feeling. As a charter guest you could begin your day with a sunrise yoga session on the large foredeck or have an early morning swim in the ocean before taking breakfast on the main deck aft. Here a large curved sofa and loose seating surround an oval dining table shaded by the overhang of the flybridge deck. After breakfast, some of the guests may choose to relax in the many lounging areas while others might want to take advantage of the calm waters and jump in to learn a new watersport. An extensive toybox has something for all ages to enjoy. However you choose to spend the morning, coming together for an al fresco lunch, perhaps prepared on the Teppanyaki grill, is the perfect opportunity to regroup and catch up with your friends and family.

Numerous entertainment options will keep the entire family entertained throughout the afternoon. Relax in the jacuzzi or on the sumptuous sunloungers, or enjoy some relaxation time in the main lounge, perhaps with a movie, all while PARSIFAL III sails on to your next port of call; if the winds are in your favour you could even be moving along under full sail at exhilarating speeds of up to 18 knots.

With the sun setting on the horizon, enjoy more time on deck taking in the view with a cocktail, followed by dinner either in the formal dining room or al fresco on the main deck aft. When it’s time to retire, PARSIFAL III's vast master suite is located aft and benefits from direct access to an extra-large swimming platform – perfect for a private early morning swim. Amidship there are two further doubles and two twins with additional pullman berths. As with all of the interior guest areas, the décor is streamlined and minimalistic, with polished dark ebony and wenge woods contrasting with fine furnishings of cream leather, glass and stainless steel. A stunning retreat, your guests will feel cosseted in luxury as they fall into a deep slumber ready for another day of fun.

Interior Design & Engineering

The 53.8-metre custom-built Perini Navi sailing superyacht offers a rare blend of performance yachting and exceptional comfort. This makes the PARSIFAL III yacht not only one of the fastest Perini Navis on water but also one of the most appealing.

Amongst her accolades, she won Superyacht of the Year (sailing yacht) and Best Interior (sailing yacht) at the Boat International Awards following her 2005 launch.

Equipped with high-tech carbon masts, fully automated boom furling and a winged keel, the PARSIFAL III yacht can reach top speeds in the region of 18 knots under full sail.

The interior, designed by Remi Tessier, features a blend of dark ebony and light sycamore complemented by natural textiles and fine leather accents.

The main salon and dining area of the PARSIFAL III sailing yacht opens fully onto the aft deck and can be opened forward to the wheel house. This gives a unique 360-degree view from within.

She accommodates 12 guests in six en suite cabins. The owner’s suite is full-beam and has direct, private access to an extra large swimming platform. The rest of the accommodation comprises a spacious master suite that can be divided into two separate double cabins if required and a further two twins with additional Pullman berths.

Yacht Facilities & Entertainment

PARSIFAL III’s main salon includes a circular sofa overlooking a large television and leads to the open-plan dining area with a sit-up bar facing out through portside windows. There’s also a smaller round table and bar on the main deck aft, with a fixed eight-person table and seating area aft.

Parsifal III’s lovely aluminum hull, carbon fiber rig, and in furling boom create a powerful sailing performance and an enjoyable sailing experience. PARSIFAL III Specifications

Named after an Arthurian knight, Parsifal III is the result of a modern-day 6-year quest by two sailing veterans. They found fellow shining knights in the Italian yacht builder Perini Navi naval architect designer Ron Holland.

And the result, according to a review in ‘Boat International’, are all the hallmarks of a Perini Navi: “…a classically proportioned ketch whose powerful hull displays a seamanlike bow and a long, elegantly curved sheer line that runs aft over a pleasingly proportioned freeboard to a half-moon of the forward-raked transom. The stylishly rounded deckhouse is topped by a flying bridge that extends aft to a long sundeck providing shade for the guest cockpit below.” Furthermore, notes Boat International, “performance is a notch higher than any of the company’s previous vessels”.

Perini Navi Yachts for Sale

Started in 1983 by Fabio Perini as Perini Navi to build sailing yachts, the Italian company today produces both sailing and motor yachts as the Perini Navi Group. All of the sailing-yacht activity (40 to 60 meters, 60 meters and larger, custom projects, racing yachts, and fast cruising yachts) falls under the Perini Navi brand. The motor-yacht brand is Picchiotti and includes the Vitruvius line of luxury expedition motor yachts.

Perini Navi Group production can be found in three locations: Perini Navi, Viareggio, Italy; Cantiere Picchiotti, La Spezia, Italy; and Perini Istanbul, Yildiz, Turkey. Each yard specializes in different areas. Viareggio houses the headquarters and the sailing-yacht division. The Picchiotti yard dates to 1600 and was acquired by the group to launch the motor-yacht branch. The Turkey location is the metalworking arm, where some of the hulls and superstructures for both motor and sailing yachts are constructed. The group collaborates with such naval architects and designers as Ron Holland, Nauta Yacht Design, Philippe Briand, Ken Freivokh Design, Dykstra Naval Architects, and more.

The group currently boasts 54 yachts on the water—52 sailing yachts and two motor yachts. On the sailing-yacht side, the most recent delivery was hull C.2173. While the most notable was the 289-foot (88-meter) Maltese Falcon , launched in 2006.

Designed by Perini Navi’s in-house team in conjunction with New Zealander Ron Holland, the sleek 164-foot (50-meter) ketch was built in aluminum and boasts a sail plan of 15,069 square feet (1,400 square meters), handled by 11 reel captive winches.

The Maltese Falcon made its mark with its distinctive stealth looks, three carbon fiber masts, automated square-rigged DynaRig sail plan, and sail area of 25,833 square feet (2,400 square meters).

Picchiotti, the motor-yacht side, has launched two explorer yachts, the first being the 164-foot (50-meter) Vitruvius Exuma and the second, the 183-foot (55.7-meter) Galileo G .

Exuma broke ground in 2010 for the inventive Vitruvius design by Philippe Briand. This rugged yet beautiful yacht boasts an innovative, sleek, and efficient hull, as well as a warm streamlined interior. The contemporary yet comfortable yacht accommodates nine guests in five staterooms and carries among other toys, a custom 16-foot amphibious jeep and a 12-foot Hov Pod hovercraft.

Galileo G launched in 2011 and carries Ice Class certification and an incredible 9,000-nautical-mile range. The yacht accommodates 12 guests in five staterooms, plus a gym that converts into a cabin.
