The amazing Maitaʻi Catamaran is an ocean adventure, sight-seeing tour and party all in one. This “state of the art”, twin hulled, 45 foot catamaran seats 49 passengers comfortably. United States Coast Guard inspected and certified, the Maita’i is ultra-safe and a great time for the entire family.

Maitaʻi offers a variety of sailings for you to choose from. Enjoy the Island sun and scenery on one of our Tradewind sails. Watch the Oahu coast roll by as the wind fills the sails on a journey you’ll remember a lifetime.

Looking for something a bit more romantic? Try our Sunset Maitai Sail or Maita’i Fireworks Sail. Have a Maitai or one of the other refreshments from our bar while you watch the sun or moon set slowly into the horizon, closing another wonderful day in paradise.

NA HOKU 3 is our brand new catamaran located in front of Duke’s Restaurant, departing directly off of the sandy shores of Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Oahu.

NA HOKU 2 has retired from the beach and is now located at Kewalo Basin Harbor Slip F23!

They have this operation dialed in. It is short but very sweet. The open bar and fun, yet competent, staff makes for good times on the water. The views are great, they have good music going, and it is fun meeting other folks on board. Definitely check it out!

What a wonderful experience! The crew was friendly and fun. The drinks were tasty and plentiful. The sunset was gorgeous and the moonrise was a terrific bonus. I highly recommend!

This was a great experience. This sail is very calm and relaxing and a completely different experience from the trade wind sails, where you expect to get tossed around and get wet. The crew was very friendly and attentive. The sunset was gorgeous, even though it was overcast all day. My wife and I now prefer this sail over the trade winds sails we have done in the past. My friend was visiting me on the island and we both loved this experience! The crew is so refreshing and fun! It was a mix of young and old! It was a great time! Would definitely recommend!

This is the best deal in Waikiki. Was there for a week and went on this cruise three times. ~$30 for one hour sail with open bar. So, you can sit in a hotel bar and nurse one drink or be on the ocean enjoying amazing views, listen to lively music and chug down multiple drinks. No brainer. Shout out to Dustin for the amazing sailing experience.

This was a total blast! The guys running the boat were friendly and entertaining. The sites were phenomenal. The sea life is gorgeous. And the drinks were very good. I booked a second trip, can’t wait to sale again!

CANCELLATION POLICY

Guests will receive a full refund only with a minimum 24-hour notice of cancellation. Full refunds are also issued in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

During the slower seasons and typically the morning sails, tour cancellations can occur due to a minimum requirement of 6 booked guests. In these rare situations, guests are always given the option to rebook or refund. If you are concerned about your tour, please call with any questions.

Guests wishing to rebook or reschedule must give 24 hours notice. Contact us by phone directly to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows and guests canceling within 24 hours of departure will be charged full price .*Groups of 20 or larger are required to give 72-hour notice to cancel or modify bookings.

5 o’clock can only mean one thing – Sunset Sail. This 90-minute long sailing is ideal for a variety of travelers including couples, families, kamaʻāinas, and large groups! Guests are welcome to bring food on board, so go ahead and grab that favorite snack and sip on that go-to brew as a Waikiki sunset takes the stage. Experience the nightlights and beautiful sunsets of Honolulu from a whole new perspective.

Catamaran sailing is one of the best ways to sit back, relax, and just take in the beautiful scenery of Waikiki Beach and the ocean surrounding it. Let the ocean be your sanctuary away from it all and take a relaxing catamaran sail.

Escape the ordinary aboard this beautiful vessel, head out into the open ocean, and feel the stresses of daily life being washed away.

Docked: On the Beach at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel

Dress in bathing suits, cover-ups, or shorts. Don’t forget to bring a Towel!

Please Note: Feet and legs WILL get wet boarding the boat. If sitting on the nets you will get wet as well.

IS THERE A BATHROOM ABOARD?

Is there parking / do you validate.

Unfortunately, we do not have any parking of our own, nor can we validate for parking. If you are going to drive, please plan to arrive early and park either at the  Royal Hawaiian Center   Parking Structure  or the  International Marketplace Parking Structure  and walk down Waikiki Surf Alley to find us. You can also valet park at the  Outrigger Waikiki  or  Royal Hawaiian .

CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD / DRINK ON BOARD?

Guests are always welcome to bring their own food / drink onboard. This includes alcoholic beverages. Please refrain from bringing any glass bottle abaord. Mahalo!

Discover the beautiful views of the ocean, local wildlife, the iconic east side of Oahu, and the sun dipping into the sea as you join us on a private catamaran cruise in Waikiki . We’ll depart from Kewalo Basin Harbor located in Honolulu and make our way up the coastline to Diamond Head, making stops along the way for any turtles, dolphins, or whales we may spot during our journey.

Once at the top of our route, we will find a calm anchorage to relax at and enjoy the Hawaii sunset. Guests are welcome to join me for guided snorkeling and swimming or just dip their toes in the water as we soak in the beautiful afternoon. Lastly, we will watch the sunset in the ocean as we head back to the harbor.

The vessel is exclusively reserved for your party so you are welcome to play your own music and bring any refreshments you would like to enjoy during our time together. I’ll happily be sharing my local knowledge and the cultural history of the area we are traveling in throughout the cruise. There is no better way to end the day!

Booked the sunset catamaran for our family. Can not say enough amazing things about the boat, crew, and service they provided. They were very patient with 2 kids snorkeling, answered all our questions, and we even got to see dolphins. Such a wonderful experience, definitely a must do experience in Oahu! You will not be disappointed.

Best thing we did on the islands! Crew was very knowledgeable about the island. We snorkeled with sea turtles and fish. A pod of dolphins unexpectedly joined us on our sunset cruise. I was just lovely. Would 10000% recommend.

This was our second time using Hawaii Ocean Charters we had Captain Sam whom we had in the fall of 2022 and Nick as well. Sam remembered us from our trip in the fall. We were greeted with warm welcomes and after a brief safety refresher we were on our way. We stopped to swim for a little bit. They gave my daughter a mask so she could dive down and see all the fish. They really do a great job to make sure everyone is comfortable and both Sam and Nick were super personable. I would highly recommend using them. If you don’t want to mess with a bunch of strangers on a sunset catamaran this is certainly the way to go.

We had a great sunset cruise! it was so nice having the entire catamaran to ourselves. We could sit upfront on the nets (with a bean bag to support our backs no less) or go up top with the captain for great views and conversation. The crew was great, and we will definitely be doing this tour again next time we are in Waikiki.

Overall rating

Great professional sailors and coast guard certified crew. Great “Holokai Hooch”, gotta be careful, that hooch will sneak up on you, especially if you mix it with champagne for that carbonated kick hehe! Great romant ... ic time with my husband, watched the sunset as sugar ray played lightly in the background. We are a young couple but we love 90s music! The only drawback is that the trip was too short. Would definitely do it again, maybe try to nudge them to stay sailing a little longer.

The cruise was a great experience! The captain was very good and friendly and the first mate was incredible setting up the boat, pouring drinks, taking pics, and being super friendly. This is definitely worth the price a ... nd much more, highly recommend!

A Great Late Avo Sail!

A great late afternoon experience. Hats-off to the crew for their organisation, quality of experience and setup on the cat. The kids were entertained on the foredeck (pitching seas seemed to be their gig) with the fore c ... argo nets, the music was great (well, our era anyway). The drinks were appropriate for the event...champers, beer and "boat mix". All were totally acceptable. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunset "open bar" cruise and would definitely do it again.

The Holokai is a beautiful, custom-designed, handcrafted 49 passenger beach catamaran. She was commissioned and splashed in 2015. Holokai is equipped with spacious seating, netted splash area, Bluetooth sound system and a clean and comfortable bathroom. Our professional, fun and accommodating captains and crew are on hand to provide 5-star service and the most memorable experience on the waters of Waikiki!

We have a bar on board with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. We had a great time at the turtle canyon morning snorkel tour. The crew was super friendly and helpful and it was very safe, even you had never snorkeled before you could enjoy this. We saw half a dozen different turtles, surfacing and all. Awesome experience.

Amazing sunset sail! Best way to see the sunset in Waikiki. Wasn't planning on taking this tour but ran into the captain on the beach, turned out to be a good choice.

I have been on many sailboats but I have to say my experience on Moana Sailing Charters was by far the best! Full-on privacy, not being with 40 other people on a sail made it so romantic for me and my fiance...

10 things you must do in Kazan

Kul Sharif Mosque in Kazan

Kazan (800 km southeast of Moscow), the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and one of Russia's oldest cities (founded in 1005), is full of sights, beautiful streets, and cozy parks. As for Tatar cuisine, it deserves special attention. If you happen to be in Kazan for a day or two, our must-see & must-do guide will make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

1. Immerse yourself in the Middle Ages in the Kremlin

Many Russian cities started with the construction of a kremlin and Kazan is no exception. This is where you should start your tour of the city. It’s the oldest building in the city and was rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century on Ivan the Terrible's orders. Postnik Yakovlev and Ivan Shiryai, the architects responsible for one of Moscow’s most iconic symbols - St. Basil's Cathedral - were involved in the construction of the fortress.

2. Don’t let Söyembikä Tower topple

According to legend, the tower is named after the only woman to rule the Kazan Khanate. Ivan the Terrible heard of Söyembikä's beauty and proposed to her, but she turned him down - so the Russian tsar threatened to raze Kazan to the ground. Söyembikä had to agree to marry him, but in return she asked for an unusual wedding present: A seven-storey tower to be built in seven days . Her desire was fulfilled and the tower was built one floor a day. On day seven the tower was completed and the wedding feast started. During the celebration Söyembikä climbed the tower and threw herself off it.

It’s situated in the grounds of the Kazan Kremlin. Its height is 58 meters and as of today it leans by two meters, like the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

3. Visit Kul Sharif Mosque

The main mosque of the Republic of Tatarstan and one of the city's most beautiful buildings is also located in the grounds of the Kremlin. A mosque stood on the site back in ancient times but was destroyed during the seizure of Kazan in 1552. It wasn’t rebuilt until 2005 and, until the huge mosque opened in Grozny, was the biggest in Russia.

The interactive Museum of Islamic Culture at semi-basement level is also worth a visit.

4. Taste Tatar cuisine

Echpochmak, smetannik, peremyach, bokkan, and baursak - you must try these! To appreciate real homemade Tatar cuisine and a Soviet ambiance at the same time, you can go to the Tea House at 64 Bauman Street. The place is indeed reminiscent of a Soviet canteen, but the locals are fond of it and many come here for lunch.

5. Admire the architecture of the Palace of Farmers

This building proudly calls itself a "palace" and attracts tourists from all over the world. The Palace of Farmers houses the Ministry of Agriculture but not all locals appreciate its splendor: Activists campaigned against the modern Baroque Revival style during its construction from 2008-10. Some people think it’s tasteless and ugly. What do you think?

6. See the sunset from Kremlin Embankment

If you go through the park adjacent to the Palace of Farmers, you'll end up on the Kremlin Embankment. The best time to come here is in the evening. And if you’re lucky, you might catch one of the most fantastic sunsets you are likely to see.

7. See Kazan at night from the other bank

The Kazan Family Center, which is also a registry office, is situated on the other side on the River Kazanka. According to legend, the name of the city comes from the word "kazan" which means a "cauldron," and the building really does resemble a big cooking pot, symbolizing abundance and fertility. Along its perimeter the Kazan Center is guarded by winged leopards and Zilant dragons. Thirty-two meters up on the eighth floor there’s a platform that offers a panoramic view of the city's historic part. The view is particularly beautiful after sunset: All of the Kremlin buildings and the embankment are illuminated and the lights are reflected in the river.

8. Visit Sviyazhsk Island

Sviyazhsk (58 km from Kazan) is often described as a place with powerful energy. In actual fact, it is not quite an island - a thin isthmus with an road connects it to the mainland. Nowadays Sviyazhsk has become one of Tatarstan's main tourist attractions, not only because of its natural beauty but also thanks to its historical importance: The town, built in the mid-16th century, has largely retained its original appearance. On an area 1.5 km x 0.5 km there are about 10 historical and architectural monuments, and the Assumption Monastery of Sviyazhsk has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

9. Ride the metro

The Kazan underground is very small - one line and 10 stations - but in beauty it is well nigh on a par with the legendary Moscow Metro thanks to its unique frescoes and mosaics on the walls, stained-glass windows, and huge amount of marble in its cladding. By the way, the tokens that are used for travel on the underground are also available as souvenirs.

10. Buy chak-chak

Don't forget to indulge yourself, your friends, and family, and buy the traditional Tatar delicacy chak-chak. It’s a national Tatar and Bashkir dish made from pastry with honey. You can buy it in many small shops around the city.
