I can’t picture why you would need a bow thruster in a Cat. With the motors so far apart they can spin circles in one spot. At dock I don’t even use the wheel, it’s all sticks like a skid steer.  

Yeah, weird. Are there thrusters in each sponson or just in one? Now, a seakeeper would be cool though 😁  

That boat, much like Change Order, makes my pants fit a little funny.  

What is the weight of this impressive beast ?  

As Timber Tech stated these are built like a tank, it weights a little over 15,000 lbs. It is built with .250 bottom plate, all the ribs are .250 and .190 at the 60 inch sides. The seller gave me the original build specs for the boat when he ordered it. Nestucca asked if it was Mark Roberts commercial boat, it is not. This was only sport fished by someone out of the Columbia river by all the tracks left in the Garmin plotter.  

Thanks Bill, I'm still pinching myself to make sure I'm not just dreaming again. If mother nature works with me this week I'll be out Friday looking for more blood. If your ever in the neighbor hood I will give you a tour. My son said it makes my house look small when parked in the driveway..............LOL  

“She’s a beaut Clark” 🙂. You are so right about never going back. I love watching monotrash owners and riders brace for impact each time I come off a swell. I usually let them do it a few times before I ask them what they are doing and why. I guess some habits are tough to break. The biggest thing I had to learn was that just because I can now go out in fat worse conditions and still be as, and maybe even more, comfortable as before, it doesn’t mean I should or that it will be fun to fish those conditions. #2 was to make sure I trim properly to keep the bow as level as possible for the conditions I’m running in. Congrats on your new ride!

Yes it is moored in Charleston, with any luck I'll have it out Friday chasing tuna out to the north/ west. I want to thank all the Salty dogs for their kind comments. When I have more knowledge about the new boat I'll share operating stats on how she runs. Thanks again, Scott

Maxweld Maxcat, out of Oregon is the best built power catamaran made. I owned a World Cat 270 HTS with twin Volvo diesels, but it doesn't even compare with a Maxweld. The WC is kindergarten compared to a Maxweld. If you want a power Cat that will last forever and is built to take any sea you can look past World Cat, Glacier Bay, Amerikats, and all the others and look at Maxweld. I am not in anyway affiliated with the company I just believe in their product. EDIT: THREAD CLOSED. Continuation of previous rant from July.

I believe that Maxwelds I've seen for sale around $325 Armstrong for Under $200K. So you can buy a lot of fuel for $100k and fuel efficeincy shouldn't be a concern if you can afford a boat like that. Of course I wouldn't beach a boat that big so Aluminum isn't necessary. I'm partial to Blackfeather boats which are composite and get awesome fuel economy like 4mpg and top out at near 60mph. Made in AK and can be had for $150K new. A used Baha king Cat with diesels and flybridge can be had for $70K as well look at Yachtworld.com and seek catamarans (you'll find all these boats for sale there as well). Sobie2

Maxweld or Armstrong Maxweld or Armstrong I think the Armstrong is the better of the metal cats. I have seen several of both The Maxwelds seem to burn more fuel and are real hard on out drives. The Armstrong's are more of a commerical built type boat.

Armstrong Armstrong I vote Armstrong. I have known Josh Armstrong for many years and he builds a fantastic boat.  

Local builders Local builders Have you checked out any of the local builders? I know Sea State One, Glacier Craft and I think Anderson marine build cats.
