The most effective way to transport your dinghy is with a dolly or trailer. If you are loading your dinghy onto your roof racks or onto your box trailer, there is an alternative, and it may be cheaper than you think. This is the safest way to get your boat from home to the water and back again without any damage.

Dynamic Dolly Laser
This lightweight, easy-to-handle Laser Dolly is made from aluminum with stainless steel screws. It is well-engineered to the point where it can easily be taken apart to fit in the back of a car for transporting elsewhere. When broken down, there are only five primary parts - two wheels, the axel-strap assembly, and two strut assemblies. Simple, yet strong and effective.
Right-On Dolly & Trailer for Sunfish and Laser Sailboats
Made with a powder-coated steel frame, this lightweight dolly and trailer combo works with various small sailboats including Laser, Sunfish, and RS Feva. It comes complete with soft springs that absorb vibration during transportation. The design uses a fold-up locking tongue stand. The load capacity is set at 300 pounds.
Dolly for Laser Sailboats with Beach Wheels
The welded, all-metal frame of this dolly is made from single-tube aluminum with stainless steel screws. It also comes with a heavy-duty 3-inch non-stretch polyester sling for boat support. It can be easily assembled and disassembled, depending on your specific needs. The lightweight, sturdy unit weighs just 20 pounds when the wheels have been removed.
BRIS Stainless Steel Launching Dolly
Although this launching dolly isn’t designed specifically for Lasers, and the quality may not be as good as some other dollies, Lasers still fit so this may work well for you. Made from stainless steel, this dolly has 16-inch wheels and can hold a maximum weight of 160 kilograms and boats up to 14 feet long. It is designed to be handled effectively by a single person.

What Is A Laser Dolly?
A Laser dolly is a specialized piece of equipment designed to help transport, launch, and retrieve small sailboats. They are also called boat or dinghy dollies as they can carry more than just Laser class sailboats. Made from aluminum or stainless steel, these sturdy dollies are also lightweight. The design is quite simple, there is a frame and wheels with supports to hold a dinghy. The design permits a single person to easily move a loaded dinghy from storage or off the trailer to the edge of a body of water without requiring a large boat trailer.
Here is a closer look at the parts of a Laser dolly:
- Frame : This is the primary structure of the dolly and includes supports and cradles for holding the sailboat. There are also adjustable straps to keep the dinghy secure.

Trailex SUT-250L Laser Sailboat Trailer. Available as Model SUT-250L for Standard Laser 1 and SUT-250LII for Laser 2 will transport a single Laser sailboat. Includes built in Sure Lube bearing protection system. It has a tuned suspension to virtually eliminate "Road Bounce" on small boats. This trailer can be shipped via UPS, and is easily assembled. Since the SUT-250L Trailer is made of aluminum, it is maintenance-free in addition to being strong and lightweight. Laser Sailboat is suspended at three points on the gunwale lips to protect the boats hull. Swivel Bow Support is included as a standard feature - this allows singled handed loading of the boat. Specify Laser One or Laser Two model when ordering.

Dynamic Dolly, Type 2
- Dolly style allows bow of boats with a curled gunwale to hang from a specifically shaped handle fitting. Snug-fitting edge trim atop the handle fitting protects the gunwale gelcoat. Type is suitable for Laser, Byte, Gig Harbor 16, and more.
- Boat-specific tube and sling lengths provide a custom fit for each boat, enabling a balanced handle load and easy maneuvering.
- All joint fittings are through-bolted and designed for increased torque stability.
- Strong, 3” non-stretch, polyester sling provides wrap-around boat support.
- Adjustable, flexible V-fitting on tongue tube provides boat support forward of the sling and prevent boat and aluminum contact.
- Eyelets on sling and handle fittings facilitate securing boat to dolly in storage, on trailers or in racks. Tie-down with the handle fitting eyelet helps prevent slippage on steep ramps.
- Easy dolly breakdown using the snap buttons on wheel shaft and tongue tube, as well as wing nuts on axle tube cross fitting.
- Pneumatic, non-corrosive, 16” x 4” wheels can be secured on wheel shaft with provided screws for added security. For soft sand conditions, tire pressure can be reduced to increase tire footprint.

Received product. Assembly required, directions don’t have good illustrations, does the job but could show better illustrations and detailed instructions. Trailer and quality appears to be very good. First issue is that product says it is compatible with dynamic trailers. This is not accurate, or misleading, it fits a specific dynamic trailer only. I bought trailer for my Melges 14, (4.267 meters / Laser is 4.2 meters) Melges 14 very similar to dimensions of a laser. I have a dynamic trailer for Melges 14, however it is a different model than the laser dolly. When assembled I put my Melges 14 on trailer with Dynamic trailer the Melges uses. Does not fit and can it be used. Assembling the laser specific Dynamic trailer that came with purchase and will put Melges 14 on that dolly and hopefully Melges will work with the shorter dolly (about 5 inches) and be safe and trailerable. Will update once completed. Just be aware that you need a specific Dynamic trailer , and can only be used with that one.

Excellent sail, ideal for training and comes with a sailbag, Our only drawback was the long delivery time (2-3 weeks) and having to pay €90 in customs charges all due to Brexit! If Sailing Chandlery had a outlet here in the Republic or in Northern Ireland, business could get much better.

My Topper sails infinitely better with this new sail, , much faster, came with strap and eye at head, had to unpick and remove the strap to work with my halyard loop. David

I took advantage of the offcut sale to try out some of the more expensive ropes for my limited needs. I have not seen this kind of offer before, and I was able to find some lengths and qualities I would not normally worry about. Great service and sensible prices. Customer focused offers. I also plan to use some of the offcuts to improve my whipping and splicing. Does my son know he is being towed down the Thames with a rope that would be on the more expensive yachts with a breaking strength well over what we need, no. Does it matter - actually yes it does :)

We received the electric very quickly and it is of great quality. We will definitely use sailing chandlery again.
Great fast service from Sailing Chandlery. An expensive trainer delivered quickly and efficiently. The price, even discounted, doesn't warrant the outlay but the comms from Sailing Chandlery throughout the transaction to delivery were spot on. In the end, a comfortable pair of grey expensive trainers for use on my yacht; they look and feel good but trainers at half the price would probably have sufficed.

The Allen Cam Cleats were as described. As usual Sailing Chandlery were very quick to send them and despite not paying for next day delivery they did arrive the next day.
