I arrived at KYC from San Francisco as part of the 2024 Pacific Cup. The welcoming and dedication of all the volunteers and club members was amazing. I have not seen this outside of Hawaii. The club even has volunteers to do laundry chores. There is something special about this place.
I come here on Wednesdays because that is usually prime rib night. The scenery is amazing and you get a great view of the harbor. The sunset is a great time to go and reserve a time. Seating is usually very fast and there is parking in the front (only for members). Guests can park on the street. Prices are reasonable and the servers are very nice!
$15.00 ish on 30 Sept 2022. More a turkey sandwich than a Reuben sandwich. It was ok

Growing up I was never exposed to yacht clubs and sailing so I always believed that it was a very elite, hoity-toity, haole thing. But thankfully, I have had the pleasure of being a guest several times to KYC and I can now correct my previous misconceptions. Located on Kaneohe Bay Drive, KYC is absolutely beautiful. Boats have direct access to Kaneohe Bay, Coconut Island, and the infamous Sandbar. Sailing during sunset gives you the most gorgeous visuals w/ the Ko'olau mountains in the backdrop. The amenities are very clean w/ showers, pool, bar, restaurant, and grill. It really seems like a great place for families. The restaurant and food is really good and very reasonably priced. I've tried it all. Breakfast, brunch, dinner. You can get a mean eggs benedict for $10 and at dinner they serve complimentary bread and salad w/ the entrees. Try the fish or filet mignon. The only downside is you have to be a member of the club (makes sense) to access all this wonderfulness and also if you're a guest, you have to park on the street rather than the private lot (it's not difficult to find street parking though). But man, if you ever get the chance to visit this place and hop on a boat, take the opportunity, you will not regret it.
Thursday night sailing
By far the best garlic shrimp on the island. Blows Giovanni's out of the water! Lovely atmosphere and great conversation with the members.
In the past I came here for different dining events. Now I join friends for brunch and different events. I'm not a member but my friends invite me when they take their boat out. This is a yacht club, so you need to be a guest of a member to use the facilities. The facilities are awesome, dining, pool, showers, open grounds, meeting facility, party area, etc. There are slips, dry dock, and all the other things needed for your boat or yacht. My friends keep their boat off their back yard, but became members when the opportunity came up. It is not a matter of just saying, "you know, today I would like to join the Kaneohe Yacht Club." You need to be sponsored by a senior or life member and have the funds to join. They do a background check and everything. From your spouse to your dog. They only want the best members! Ok, maybe they won't background check your dog, but you get the picture. It's a very rigorous and maybe nerve wrecking process, but I'm sure once you finish all of that, you'll be thankful they scrutinize their members. Members are lucky to have an awesome place to gather at. They can also throw their own private events if there isn't a conflicting occasion. The food is good and the service is awesome. I would hope so, if you're spending all that money on dues and what not. And the thing about being a member is the opportunity to socialize with other yacht owners. It doesn't have to be restricted to yachting activities but golf and tennis, too. They encourage members to participate in what ever way they can. It's a very well rounded club, I would hope to become a member, but I don't have a boat. I hope my friends remember to invite me along the next time they go to Kaneohe Yacht Club!
Today we choose to come to the club for my birthday dinner. It is Wednesday and that is the best day to get dinner for a reasonable price the club was quite crowded and there was a long line at the bar. I ordered ono and my husband had his favorite, salmon. They were offering lobster on this night, but no one makes lobster as good as my husband. His salmon was spot on very tasty. My ono was just slightly overdone. I still wasn't fond of the cole slaw. The salad was quite large. The view was excellent like always. I had to lower my rating simply because my fish wasn't cooked as well as it should have been. I do enjoy the mango salsa they put on top of the fish. I hope the next time I go the fish is as perfect as I know they can make it. I do love seeing my old friends at the club.
This is a private club. We keep our boat here (when it's running) lol. It has a great view. They have a nice little pool. They have nice tennis courts. They also have many clubs you can join. We have been members for a few years and have made quite a few friends. The food can be absolutely delicious. It can also be not so much. The bar staff are usually very friendly. There is one that is not quite as friendly as he should be. Tonight I ordered the monchong. I think that is my favorite fish. My husband ordered salmon. The fish came with cole slaw, green salad, and a scoop of rice. The fish was cooked almost to perfection. It was only a slight bit on the dry side. Cole slaw had way too much vinegar. I normally like their cole slaw, not so much this time. Wednesday is the night to eat at the club. They serve the same menu on Thursdays with tablecloths and waiters at about 50% more per item plus you have to tip. Thus I must give 4 stars.
Emphatically the best yacht club in Hawai'i and definitely an epic Sunday brunch spot. They have an all-you-can-eat Sunday brunch with bottomless mimosas for $20! The location is located directly on the water with a great vista that includes big yachts and the entire Ko'olau Mountain range. The service staff is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed, and not what you'd expect from a posh mainland yacht club. Thursday night dinner is a bit pricier than brunch, but the live piano more than makes up for it. Heather and Tiffany were our waitresses this week and both offered impeccable service. Troy runs a tight kitchen and is approachable with questions on menu items or dietary restrictions. The bar is cozy, and appropriately outfitted with the trophies and burgees needed for an authentic yacht club experience.
my uncle has been a member of this club for many years and was disappointed by the decline in service and upkeep of the place. foodwise (this is why you're primarily on yelp, right?), when we ordered brunch, the waitress was pretty rude and got our orders wrong. I ordered the Brandy eggs benedict but got Veggies egg benedict instead. Mine was supposed to have spinach, tomato, and bacon but got onion. And I couldn't tell that it was wrong until i bit into it, but I wasn't about to send it back because who knows what that biyatch would put in my food! there were so many rowdy kids, i was wondering if i was at a local park by mistake? anyway, food is mediocre. you only become a member here so that you can park your boat. i don't have a boat, so i don't need to eat here.
This is a very fun place to spend time in. The drinks are great, so is the service. You can't beat the view and people are friendly.

Performance and play in Kaneohe
Published on May 23rd, 2023 by Editor -->
Kaneohe Yacht Club (Kaneohe, HI) and its sailing coach have found a different way to keep the stoke in the kids to keep them in the sport. Report by Chris Museler for Sailing World:
Using the term “epic” too often makes one a kook. It’s equally uncool to overhype one’s sailing experiences because, let’s face it, there’s always someone who has won more, sailed faster or gone to a cooler place. The summer of 2022, however, was truly epic for Jesse Andrews, the Pied Piper of Hawaii’s Kaneohe Bay, whose followers stormed North America and Europe, and ascended to performance sailing’s world stage.
Under Andrews’ direction, these young sailors are charging hard in the Waszp and Olympic iQFoil classes today, and getting serious looks to fill slots on the rosters of youth and women’s America’s Cup development teams.
Kaneohe sailing’s epic and timely ascent into everyone’s collective radar has been a long time coming, but the whole phenomenon was accelerated when the US Sailing Olympic Development Program doubled down on performance youth sailing in 2022. Kaneohe, naturally, was the first proving ground. – Full report

Kaneohe Yacht Club Claim Back-to-Back Sears Cup Victory
SEABROOK, TEXAS (August 14, 2023) – After three days of close racing, Makani Andrews, Noelani Velasco, Bryce Huntoon, and Jaxon Hottinger from Kaneohe Yacht Club overcame a slow start in Sunday’s Gold Fleet racing to claim their second consecutive Sears Cup.
Second place came down to the last race, where the San Francisco Yacht Club team of Hailey Thompson, Rhett Krawitt, Julian Levash, and Mark Xu were able to best the Austin Yacht Club team of James Brock, Ryder Getson, Zachary Romberg, and Lily Wind on the final leg. San Francisco finished with 42 points, while Austin Yacht Club finished with 44 points.
“Winning a second year in a row with the same crew is incredible, it’s an indescribable feeling,” said trimmer Bryce Huntoon. “Being able to train and compete with a consistent crew is massive. We’re all good friends at home; many of us are training partners on other boats, so it’s just pure fun racing with this team against some of the best sailors in the country.”
Competitors at the Chubb US Youth Triplehanded Championship saw a wide range of conditions on Clear Lake, with lighter conditions in the morning building to a 15-18 knot seabreeze from the Gulf of Mexico in the afternoon. Racing took place August 11 – 13 in Lakewood Yacht Club’s fleet of RS21s.
First awarded in 1921, The Sears Cup is US Sailing’s oldest youth trophy, and serves as a pathway into keelboat sailing for youth sailors. Two teams from each US Sailing area can qualify for the Sears Cup in a local area qualifier.
Each year, US Sailing coach and event staff choose a winner of the Sportsmanship Award, based on a display of sportsman-like conduct to their competitors. This year’s winners were the team from San Diego Yacht Club: Ava Gustafson, Madilyn Anderson, Kaya Hancock, and Taylor Ashton.
Unique to the Chubb U.S. Youth Triplehanded Championship is the Sears Shipshape Award, awarded to the Triplehanded team who demonstrates the utmost care and attention to detail for their borrowed boats during and after the Championship. This year’s winners were the team from Mission Bay Yacht Club: Liam Kaseburg, Carlin Fretwell, Efe Derman, and Ariana Ludwig.
This year’s event had a strong showing of mixed gender teams, with 4 boats driven by female skippers, and 14 of the 19 boats having mixed gender crews.
US Sailing would like to thank title sponsor Chubb Insurance, national sponsors Gill Marine, and host Lakewood Yacht Club for their support of the 2023 Chubb US Youth Triplehanded Championship.
